Adrenaline Neuraw Scrub (Lemon), 250g

Product Description:

Adrenaline Neuraw Scrub is packed with Vitamin C to feed your skin only the good stuff and keep the bad stuff out. Contains anti-microbial properties to help absorb impurities from the skin and moisturize. Keeps skin hydrated and clear as it can. Excellent in lightening old scars such as old insect wounds!

The scrub came in a very simple resealable clear plastic pouch. The product name, weight and Rraw's website is printed in the front but other than that, there is no other information available. I like the minimalist design but I do wish they also included the ingredients and instructions.

Price and Where I got It

If you haven't heard of them yet, Rraw is a local company offering organic products ranging from soap bars, body scrubs, lip tints, face masks and a whole lot more! They guarantee all their products are made using only wild and fresh ingredients.

Their Neuraw body scrub can be bought for only Php 129.00 (originally Php 299) at Rraw PH's website. Neuraw is available in different versions and you can choose among the following: Endorphin (Vanilla), Dopamine (Strawberry), Serotonin (Cocoa), Melatonin (Pandan), and Adrenaline (Lemon).

I chose Adrenaline (direct product link) because I like lemons and because Rraw claims this is good for lightening dark spots and old scars like insect wounds.  I got mine as part of the Noël Christmas gift set for Php 549.00 (You can read my Noël unboxing here).

Ingredients List

All the ingredients look innocent and no harmful chemicals are included. I have some qualms about the oils but we'll get to that later.

My Experience

close up of the sugar scrub
First of all, this looks like it will be a good exfoliator because of the large uneven grains of sugar and salt. I applied this over clean, slightly wet skin, after cleansing with body wash. This is face-friendly, according to Rraw.

I followed the instructions above and rubbed in a circular motion, focusing more on dry areas like my elbows, knees and ankles. The sugar and salt melted away leaving the oils and tiny little pieces of lemon bits in my skin. After that, I let it sit for 5 minutes then I rinsed it all off.

Results

This product is certainly effective as a scrub plus the coconut and olive oils act as natural moisturizers. Didn't use lotion or any moisturizers afterward because my skin is baby-soft and so smooth after using this!

Now, remember my qualms about the oils? I'm still trying to find my holy grail products but I know my skin well enough to know that any oil-based products left on my face will lead to breakouts. Whenever I use such products, I make sure to wash it off with a foam cleanser. This time, I threw caution to the wind - I used the scrub on my face, didn't wash the oils off with another cleanser and left my skin as it is. As expected, I broke out the next morning. :(

If you have combination/oily skin like me, I think it would be wise to use this scrub only on your body, not the face. (Disclaimer here: every one of us are different. What works for me may not work for you, and vice versa.)

I didn't see any notable lightening results as well but I think that is quite understandable since I only use this not more than once a week.

Here is a summary of Adrenaline Neuraw's Pros and Cons:

Pros

  • All organic materials
  • No harmful ingredients
  • Made my skin so soft and smooth
  • Did its job well
  • 250g lasted long

Cons

  • Leaves a slight greasy feeling
  • No significant lightening results
  • Not for facial use (at least for me)
  • You can try to DIY this at home for lesser cost

Will I repurchase?

Hmmmm, probably not. Rraw has a wide variety of scrubs that look great so I will probably try those the next time I do a haul from them (I'm eyeing the coffee and charcoal scrubs).

Anyway, that's it for my review! I hope this helped.

Daiso is a Japanese dollar store chain that offers a great range of affordable Japanese products, with most of their items priced for as low as 88 PHP! No kidding when I say Daiso is a treasure trove full of goodies waiting to be discovered. I can easily spend a few hours in there looking at cute stuff! I consider myself lucky because I have 4 stores very near me, such luck!

I got Daiso's Charcoal Natural Cleansing Foam from their Charcoal line when I ran out of cleanser. Here's my review.

Packaging

The product comes in this long, narrow 70-gram tube decorated with black and gray bubbles. The plastic tube is thick and doesn't feel cheap. For its price point, I think this is well made.

Daiso Charcoal Cleansing foam (this pic is the real actual size)
The labels and instructions were in Japanese but they have translated it into English as well.
Features: Small tiny halls of charcoal absorb dust and pollution. It clears dirt and sebum in pores.
How to Use: Make bubbles with water, softly massage and wash out.
Precautions to take when using this product
Made in Korea for Daiso Japan
I lost my other pictures but this cleanser is sealed with foil. I like that you can be sure that the product was not opened yet. The packaging is simple enough so there's really not much I can say, but one thing I dislike is the screw top. I find the standard flip cap handier. The cap also gathers some of the product and tends to smear it all over the tube, just like the pic below. This is potentially unsanitary. I wipe the tube and cap clean every now and then.
some of the product inside spills out on the cap

Experience

The first time I used this I was quite surprised because I was expecting the charcoal foam to be darker than it is. The cleanser is thick in consistency, almost like a cream.

When you add water, it lathers very easily and creates lots of foam. It washes off very easily too. Let's test its cleaning powers, shall we?

I swatched random stuff on my arm for my cleaning test

First wash using the Charcoal Foam. It removed everything but left traces of the gel eyeliner and the lippies
Second wash using the Charcoal Foam. I took my time rubbing the cleanser in a circular motion.
You can see it got rid of everything except for the matte lipstick which left a stain.
I think the results above are pretty good. When I have makeup on, I usually use a makeup remover first and then follow-up with a normal foam cleanser. I think this will do its job nicely in cleaning up any remaining dirt or makeup.

By itself, I think the cleanser is quite mild. I feel the need to double-wash. It's not drying the first time, but my face feel squeaky clean during my second wash. I make sure to use a moisturizer after.

Bang for the Buck

You get 70 grams for only 88 PHP and this tube is enough to last 2-3 months, depending on your usage. I think that's very affordable! I bought this during the first week of October. I use a pea-sized amount every morning and evening. Guess what, the tube was able to last me for more than two months!

Final Thoughts

I don't think there is anything breakthrough about this item but it does the job well enough. Will I buy this again? Maybe. I will consider this when I ran out of cleansing foam again because it is affordable.

my Vamp It Up loot - love it <3
Last October, Saladbox partnered with ETC to create a beauty box inspired by the famous “The Vampire Diaries.” This special box will feature a variety of beauty and lifestyle products that will gave you vampy vibes a la Elena Gilbert. "Think sexy red lipsticks and plum eyeshadows!" they said.

Ok, I'm listening. Haha. If you haven't heard of them yet, Saladbox is a beauty box service that will allow you to try and discover new items for just a fraction of the cost. They currently have 3 subscription plans available if you wanted to try: Starter Plus (3-months), Six-Month Prepaid and One-Year (VIP) plan. Click here if you want to learn more about their subscription plans.

RRAW PH is a local line of vegan products made by hand using only wild and fresh ingredients. They have soaps, body scrubs, face masks, and even organic lip tints! They promise all their products are made with natural ingredients, no toxic chemicals and were all lovingly crafted by hand. What's there to hate, right? I actually first encountered this brand through Saladbox. I was able to try the foot soak and it surpassed my expectations. Color me intrigued!

What: Benefit The POREfessional Instant Wipeout Mask
Price: Php 1,800 for the whole box, 8 masks inside

According to the Benefit website, this mask is a superhero-strength, dual-sided face mask that cleans out AND smooths out the look of pores around your nose, forehead and chin. That's a pretty bold claim. I have quite a pore problem so let's see if this works, shall we?

Greetings from Glamourbox and my mini haul at the back <3
When it comes to subscription boxes here in the Philippines, Glamourbox would be one of my top picks. They put together products from brands all over the world and deliver it right to your doorstep for just a fraction of the total cost. Their recent boxes include collabs from beauty leaders like Pixi, Inglot, POPBeauty and Eye of Horus.

I have bought a beauty box from them but I haven't used their online shop yet. From my experience, payment and delivery for beauty boxes is fast but I'm not sure if the same can be said about their other stuff. Time to test and evaluate, shall we?

Last September was Saladbox's 4th Anniversary and they celebrated the special occasion by having another exclusive box with Benefit Cosmetics. Subscribers will get five samples of Benefit's best collections, hence the title "Best of Benefit". I think Benefit is a good brand so I was very eager to get my hands on this loot. Let's proceed, shall we? :)

Purederm Hydro Soothing Cucumber Pads
Bought from Watson's: Php 89.00
I am so into face masks nowadays. Snail masks, gold masks, mud masks, etc... there is so much variety and so far every one I tried made my skin feel so soft and so smooth. I've been very good to my skin lately but I feel like I am neglecting my eyes. I work on a night shift and every night, I work long hours in front of the computer. By the time I get out, my eyes are dark and sunken from staying up all night.

For the month of August, the folks at Saladbox came out with a box called "Pretty Fixes" - a box showcasing a few of the innovations of the beauty industry. All the products in this box is meant to help us solve some of our beauty concerns.

You guys, foot masks are a thing? I was just browsing nail polish colors at Watson's when I chanced upon this item. "Perfectly peel away calluses and dead skin cells in just 2 weeks"? That sounds too good to be true. I do treat myself with foot spas every now and then, but I don't really give my feet enough attention aside from basic cleaning. I got very thick calluses in my feet so I was instantly intrigued and decided I must try it myself!

Subscription boxes have always intrigued me ever since I've learned of them - to get surprise items worth more than I paid for delivered to my door every month - hey, sign me up! My first ever subscription box was the BYS Matte Maven from Glamourbox. It was a happy experience for me and it left me itching to try out other local subscription boxes. From the competition, Saladbox stood out to me with its very affordable price tag compared to other beauty boxes.

When Saladbox  announced their comeback early this year, I immediately snagged their 3-month starter plan. I got the March Benefit x Saladbox, April VMV Hypoallergenics x Saladbox and the May-June Va-va-voom Box. For only 1500 php (+ shipping fee), I'd say I totally got my money's worth!

yay, cute minimalist logo
Hi, I am Tef and this is my blog.

I've been wanting to open a blog since forever but there's always something that stops me - I don't have enough time, I don't have the resources, I don't know anything, what if I offend somebody, the list goes on... and the worst- what if nobody even visits my blog?

I am sure all bloggers, either established ones or still newbies like me, had all those questions too when first starting their own blogs. But then I realize - if I don't start now, when will I ever? And so the birth of "tep tries new stuff".
