Hey, girls! Here's my review for my latest Giltboxes (May 2018)!

For the uninitiated, Giltbox is a beauty box subscription here in the Philippines. Every month, subscribers will receive a surprise box filled with beauty, skincare and lifestyle samples from local and international brands. Subscription starts for as low as 500 pesos per month (see their plans here). Do note that each box is personalized for you based on a profile you fill out - what I get may be different from yours. Moving on...

May is the month of flowers, hence the rosy design. I like it - it looks simple, pretty and elegant. Since it's Reyna Elena's month, this month's featured products are items they think will bring out the queen in us, no need for a terno and a crown! Let's see.

What's Inside My Giltboxes

My May loot is the lightest I've ever received from Giltbox. I got a bit disheartened because, as you can see, most are sachet samples. Aside from that, most of the items inside are repeat items from the past few months. Let's break it down, shall we?

BOX ONE CONTENTS

1. Stylex Hair Polish, 50ml

Product Description: "Tame frizz and fly-away hair with Stylex Hair Polish! This hair cream give sensational gloss for silky, shiny finish. It has unique light formula that guarantees beautiful hair without the sticky, heavy feeling. It also contains hair conditioners that lock in hair’s natural moisture. Have hair that’s healthy and full of life all day long!"

I have used this hair polish in the past (high school days, if I recall correctly) so this hair polish is not new to me. It is indeed a lightweight polish that gives hair a shiny finish. It is cheap too, the 50 ml tube is around Php 30.00 in leading supermarkets.

2. Ladouce Tampons, 3-pc sample box

Product Description: "Ladouce tampons protect you day and night during 6-8 hours, feeling comfortable and safe."

I've received this sampler on my past boxes and I am slowly getting the hang of using it. Haha. When used correctly, Ladouce tampons are very convenient, comfortable and 100% leak-free. They are available in 3 sizes (Mini, Normal and Super). This sampler pack contains all three. Nice if you wanna know what size fits your flow! A set of 48 tampons costs Php 519.00 at Lazada, so the estimate value of  this sample is around Php 30.

3. Mentholatum Sunplay Ultra Shield SPF 130 PA ++++, 2.5g sample

Product Description: "Has the highest SPF in the market; protects with broad-spectrum SPF 130;
delivers long-lasting sun defense; has a lightweight, non-oily texture with a sheer finish; fragrance and colorant-free"

I was looking for a sunscreen product in my April Summer Giltbox but I guess they decided to put it here because Reyna Elenas need sun protection too! I'm quite impressed by the SPF 130 protection - it's the highest I've seen so far and that PA++++ rating is another bonus. You can be sure you are completely protected against harmful UVA and UVB rays!

I'm loyal to Biore sunscreens but it's nice to try another brand once in a while. This sunscreen has a milky texture that absorbs easily into my skin. It's not greasy, it doesn't feel heavy plus I experienced no stings or irritation. I used this at a summer outing and I did not get burned. Only con is the whitecast which I expected because of the high SPF. Overall, this is a good sunscreen for me. The full 35g bottle is Php 480 at BeautyMNL, so this 2.5g sachet should be around Php 35.

4. Haru Artisan Soaperie Yuzu Punch Face Mist, 20ml sample

Product Description: "An all-natural moisturizing face mist that brightens and smooths your complexion"

Love this face mist! It's moisturizing and made my face soft and smooth all day. Just a word of caution, it contains lemons, yuzu and Vitamin C so I only spray it on non-wounded surfaces. Also, make sure to follow with sunscreen when using during daytime! Overall, another new find! The full-sized bottle is worth Php 252 at Haru Soaperie's website. My sample should be worth around Php 80.

5. iWhite BB.Holic Everyday BB Cream, 2 sachets

Product Description: "iWhite Korea's BB.Holic Beige is a multi-tasking BB Cream
that provides several makeup and skincare benefits."

Looking for a cheap yet natural-looking makeup base? Well, this item is for you! I have tried and tested this BB cream a lot of times and I can say it is perfect for everyday use. It was able to cover up most blemishes and even out my skin tone. The finish is sheer and not cakey - the effect is like the Korean dewy look. I just brush on a little powder on my T-zone so I don't look oily. Each sachet costs Php 25 at Watson's.

6. Scent Studio Perfume Sample, Erin

Last item on my first box is a perfume sample from Scent Studio. Anybody who actually knows about the brand? Haha. I've been looking for more information about them since forever (most of my past Giltboxes always have a perfume sample from them) but I can't find a website. Ooops.

BOX TWO CONTENTS

My second Giltbox contained six samples. Three of them are the same from the first box - I got another Stylex Hair Polish, another Ladouce Tampon sample pack and another Sunplay sunscreen sachet. The new contents in my second box are:

1) Vedette Clay Facial Mask Cedrus

Product Description: "A detoxifying clay mask for smoother, more radiant skin"

I haven't masked in a while so I'll try this as soon as I can! This retails for Php 65 at BeautyMNL.

2) Bloom Skin Strawberry Shortcake Hand Scrub sample

I have received this in my April Giltbox but like before, I still haven't seen actual info about the product or the brand! Quite a waste because I like this! It's a super yummy smelling scrub that makes my hands feel soft and smooth to touch.

3) Scent Studio Perfume Sample, Genevieve

Last item inside my second Giltbox is another perfume sample from
Scent Studio. This time, I got the scent Genevieve.

MAY 2018 GILTBOXES: IS IT WORTH IT?

I'm gonna be blunt - nope!

I don't think the items in themselves are bad - these are all items I am willing to use. Standouts for me are the Haru Yuzu Face Mist and the Sunplay Sunscreen. However, my unboxing was not satisfying. The boxes feel too light and too empty - like I said earlier, most of the items are just tiny samplers. For a Maria Elena - shouldn't a queen receive more premium items? Or at the very least, something full-sized, not just little sachets? Most of the products inside are repeat samples too. It's a no-no for me since I wanted to try a lot of products as much as possible. Aside from that, the total value of the two boxes is only around 400+ pesos based on my calculations.

So yeah, I think my May loot is not worth it. Giltbox, what is you doing? This is my 9th month out of a yearly subscription. Hope my last few boxes are more satisfying than this.

Hi, guys! Back again with another Giltbox unboxing because I need to catch up! Haha. Today's post features my Giltbox loot for April 2018, or what they dubbed as their "Hello Summer" box. They claim the products inside are items that will make me enjoy summer like a real summer babe - whether I'm at the beach or in my office!

Just a quick recap - Giltbox is an online subscription service here in the Philippines. When you subscribe to their plans, you will receive a box containing 4-5 samples of beauty and lifestyle items customized based on your preferences. Check out their subscription plans here - women or men.

My "Hello Summer" April 2018 Giltbox Loot

Without further ado, here's what I got! Do take note that the samples I got may be different from the samples that you will receive.

BOX ONE CONTENTS

1. Cocoline Naturals Body Wash, Triple Whitening, 340ml

Product Description: "A natural and gentle body wash that brightens and smoothens skin"

First of all, I got this gigantic bottle of body wash from Cocoline. It didn't fit the box so it was just placed outside. Since it was heavy, it smooshed my boxes. I wish Giltbox packed it with carton or with something that can support it. Good thing there's no spills while my package was in transit.

Anyway, about the body wash - this is Cocoline's Triple Whitening variant made with Papaya, Kojic and Vitamin C. I don't use it often so I have no comment regarding it's skin whitening benefits but I do like how it smells plus it lathers really well. It also doesn't feel slimy when rinsing it out. The 340ml bottle I got is worth PHP 193 at Giltbox's online shop.

2. Angel Skin Skin Lightening Bar with Glutathione & Gigawhite

Product Description: "A premium beauty bar that brightens and moisturizes skin"

Next inside my box is Angel Skin Skin Lightening Bar. I also got a sample of this soap last February (view my unboxing here) and sad to say this is not compatible with me. My skin got irritated and I had rashes all over. Anybody here who also experienced the same? Anyway, this soap is valued at Php 140.

3. Artistry Hydra-V Vital Skin Serum Concentrate, 4ml sample

Product Description: "Artistry Hydra-V Vital Serum Concentrate is a concentrated,
powerful serum that helps to refresh, replenish and revitalize skin."

Yay! Another Artistry Hydra-V sample! The full-sized 30-ml serum is priced Php 3,225 so my 4ml sample value should be around Php 430. Will use this along with my other Artisty items. Will let you know how it goes!

4. Bloom Skin Strawberry Shortcake Hand Scrub

I adore this mini hand scrub sample from Bloom Skin! It's very convenient and super easy to use. I just massage it for a few seconds, rinse it off and it leaves my hands feeling soft and smelling lovely like strawberry shortcakes! Too bad there's no info about where I can get the full size.

5. Vitress Hair Solutions, Solenn Hair Cuticle Coat, 30ml

Product Description: "Special serum from a blend of silicones that wraps and seals
each strand to protect it from damage and breaking."

The last item in my box is this hair cuticle coat from Vitress. This is the special edition item designed and co-created by Solenn Heussaff herself. Sample value is Php 80.

BOX ONE VERDICT

Overall, not bad but I was not that excited.

I chose the Hydra-V serum via Giltbox's Sample Select survey so I'm glad I got it. As for the other items, I don't really see how it's a summer box. I was expecting more sun protection items instead of whitening products. That said, the products themselves are not bad. I can see myself using them eventually, except for the soap. Total value of this box is around Php 840+ so I guess hindi na rin lugi.

BOX TWO CONTENTS

My second Giltbox contains almost the same items as my first box. I got another Cocoline Body Wash, Angel Skin Soap and the Bloom Skin Hand Scrub. The only things new in my second box are the ANAGEN Hair Wax and Esme Organics Stimu-Rub.

1. ANAGEN Hair Wax, 50g

Product Description: "Anagen Hair Wax is blended with essential hair growth ingredients to stimulate
hair regrowth while giving your hair excellent pliability and natural shine after every use"

I got this inside my March Giltbox so this sample is not new to me. It's a pretty good hair wax - it holds style quite well while also adding a little bit of shine to my hair without looking unnatural. The hair wax is worth Php 350.

2. Esme Organics Stimu-Rub

Product Description: "STIMU-RUB roll-on essential oil blend is designed to soothe pain from migraine,
sinus, headache and relieving fatigue and promoting clarity and calm a natural way especially when traveling."

This sample is also not new to me since I also received it in a prior box. I've already tried this and based on my experience, it's effective in relieving dizziness and nausea when travelling. The rollerball is handy too - you can use it to press on aching muscles for an impromptu DIY massage. This is worth Php 150.

BOX TWO VERDICT

All the contents of my second Giltbox

This is an even less exciting box for me since the items are almost the same as my first box plus I also received repeat samples. This is also not what I would call a "Summer Box". Like the first box, I wish they added more sun protection items instead of whitening products. Satisfaction-wise, I think this Giltbox curation is pretty meh. Value-wise, I did get Php 830+ worth of products so it's not a total loss.

Hello, fellow beauty lovers! I just received my May 2018 boxes from Giltbox today so I thought I'll share with you real quick what I got last March. Yes, I'm late (don't blame me lol) but I really have to share late or not because I fondly recall my surprise when I saw the items inside. The box design is really pretty too! If I recall correctly, it was inspired by March being the official Earth Hour month. Sarap koloran promise, parang coloring book lang ang peg! Haha!

For the uninitiated, Giltbox is one of the few beauty subscription services here in the Philippines. Right now, they offer personalized boxes and Luxe boxes for women plus a grooming box for men. Check out the subscription rates here: Giltbox and Giltbox Man.

Without further ado, here's what I got!

BOX ONE CONTENTS

1. ANAGEN Hair Tonic, 150ml

Product Description: "Made with the latest technology, Anagen Hair Tonic is a vitamin-enriched formula
that strengthens hair, stimulates hair regrowth, and prevents hair fall."

First thing that caught my attention is this full-sized ANAGEN Hair Tonic. It claims to be the ultimate solution for treatment and prevention of acute hair loss. Hair fall is a problem of mine so I'm glad I got this! I checked the price online and I'm astonished it costs a staggering ₱1,795.00. Will let you know in a span of few months if this expensive tonic is worth it. Stay tuned! For now, my initial impressions is that the watery liquid absorbs easily into my scalp. It smells good and doesn't make my hair greasy. I hope it works!

2. Coco Line Naturals Intense Moisturizing Body Wash, 90ml

Product Description: "Intense moisturizing. Coconut + Milk + Licorice"

I've tried Coco Line lotions in the past and I think they smell divine. This body wash is the same. It smells really good! Anyway, Coco Line's Intense Moisturizing line is made with Virgin Coconut Oil, an effective moisturizer with anti-bacterial, anti-fungal & anti-oxidant properties, Milk, a natural moisturizer for extra soft & smooth skin and lastly, Licorice to help soothe irritated skin and lighten blemishes. The 90-ml sample I got is worth Php 66.00 at Giltbox's online shop.

3. Nice Day Coffee White, 5 sachets

Product Description: "A safe and effective coffee mixture that contains glutathione
and collagen that radiates and lightens skin"

Next inside are sachets of Nice Day Coffee White. It's not your typical coffee mix since it also contains Glutathione and Collagen, ingredients to make the skin fairer and brighter. I'm a big coffee lover so I immediately made myself a cup of coffee. I think it's too soon for me to judge its whitening effectiveness but I can definitely say the taste is good just from my very first cup. I immediately made another cup hence why I only have 3 sachets to show you guys, lol. For those of you looking for a caffeine high, this coffee does it. It is strong and definitely perked me up for the rest of the day. A box of 10 sachets is worth PHP 179.50.

4. Artistry Hydra-V Refreshing Gel, 7ml sample

Product Description: "Artistry Hydra-V Refreshing Gel is a clean, lightweight gel with an instant
cooling sensation. Also absorbs excess oil so any skin feels smooth and refreshed."

This is a lightweight moisturizer that claims to deliver instant hydration while also reducing shine and absorbing excess oil, giving you a natural matte look. The 50ml full-sized item retails PHP 2,230.00 at Amway PH. This sample is valued at around Php 310+. Can't wait to try this out along with the other Artistry items I got!

5. Boryeong Mud Soap, 20g sample

Product Description: "Boryeong Mud Soap... a natural soap made of quality mud from Boryeong City, South Korea."

Apparently, this highly purified vegetable beauty soap from Boryeong Cosmetics thoroughly eliminates dirt and waste from the skin with rich creamy foam that makes the skin soft and smooth. It contains Boryeong Mud which is rich in healing minerals to make skin moist, resilient and protect the skin from harmful environment that causes skin problems.

I tried this already and it made my skin tighter, making it look smoother and younger-looking. It also made my skin look brighter - I'm sure the soap is the cause since the glow disappears when I'm not using it. The full-sized 100g bar retails for 450 PHP according to the brand's official IG. I estimate the sample I have is around Php 90.00.

6. Miyu Product Samples

The last item in my box is a card containing the samples above. I got a cleanser, toner and moisturizer - perfect for traveling since these are enough for 1-2 uses each.

BOX ONE VERDICT: IS IT WORTH IT?

YES, a big happy YES!!! I wanted to try as much products as possible, so I really appreciate the variety. In terms of value, that Anagen Hair Tonic alone is such a snag! Estimate worth of my loot is more than Php 2,300. Nakakakilig! Hahaha!

BOX TWO CONTENTS

Unboxing time is not yet done, peeps! Here's the contents of my second box!

1. Anagen Hair Wax, 50ml

Product Description: "Anagen Hair Wax is blended with essential hair growth ingredients to stimulate hair growth while giving your hair excellent pliability and natural shine after every use."

This is a hair wax but it comes with a twist. It also contains the Hair Rebuild formula found in the hair tonic so that you can activate your hair follicles while styling your hair. The 50g tub is worth Php350. 

2. Cocoline Naturals Intense Moisturizing Body Wash, 90ml

My second box also contained another Body Wash from Cocoline.

3. Artisty Hydra Refreshing Eye Gel Cream, 3ml sample

Product Description: "an intensely hydrating, non-greasy gel cream specially designed
to help diminish the look of puffiness and dark under-eye circles"

Glad I got another sample from Artistry! I will try this along with the other Artistry samples I collected, hehe. According to the description, it diminishes puffiness and eyebags. I'm a night-shifter so tingnan natin! :D The 15ml full-sized eye cream is worth Php 2,130 at Amway PH so the estimate value of this sample is Php 426. 

4. Nice Day Coffee Slim, 5 sachets

Product Description: "a safe and effective dietary coffee mixture that
contains CLA Fat Burner, L-Carnitine and Fiber"

I also got another 5 sachets of Nice Day Coffee in my second box. This time I received the Slim version. The Slim coffee formula contains CLA Fat Burner, L-Carnitine and Fiber that aids in weight management. I have to say this variant suits my taste buds better than the White version. Any fat lost while drinking this coffee will just be a bonus for me because the taste is great! A box of 10 sachets retail for Php 200.

5. Messy Bessy Desk Workspace Cleaner, 50ml

Product Description: "Get your work done without the germs (or the toxic chemicals!)"

This is a cleanser made with 100% natural ingredients. Just spray, wipe, let dry and voila! Say hi to your clean and fresh-smelling work area! It smells like citrus and mint plus it doesn't leave any sticky residue! This is one of my favorites in this box. It comes cheap at only Php 75 per 50ml bottle. Check out Messy Bessy!

6. Miyu Product Samples

Last item in my box is another set of Miyu Product Samples.

BOX TWO VERDICT: IS IT WORTH IT?

While not as extravagant as my first box, this is still another satisfying set of loot. Total box value is more than Php 1,000 - I definitely got more than what I paid for! There's something for my hair, face and body, something to clean my desktop area plus coffee to drink while working! Love the variety!

February Giltbox - check out the super pretty fade!

Hello, everyone! Gonna unbox with you the stuff I got from my February 2018 Giltboxes!

If you are not familiar with them, Giltbox is a Philippine subscription service where you'll get 4-5 beauty samples delivered straight to your doorstep. Subscription starts at P1,800 for 3-months, P3,300 for 6-months, and P6,000 for a one-year subscription. Check out their website for more info! They also offer Giltbox Luxe if luxury brands are more up your alley.

First impressions: the pink gradient design is really pretty! I love how it classy it looks! Another thing I love is that I got my boxes on February 27, earlier than the usual delivery date! I tend to get my package during the first week of the next month.

Anyway, since Giltbox is personalized based on a profile you fill-up, what I get may differ from the contents of your box. Without further ado, let’s see what’s inside!

BOX ONE CONTENTS

What's inside my first Giltbox!

Household Trio of Mighty Bond items

First of all, I got what I dub as the household trio from Pioneer Mighty Bond. These are not exactly beauty products but I'm glad I got these! The Pioneer Mighty Bond Sakto 1g (Php 25) is a practical size and who doesn't need instant glue for quick fixes? Next is Pioneer's Clear Five Epoxy Syringe 6ml. According to Giltbox, the first syringe does the bonding, while the second one makes sure it's sealed well. In case you glued something by mistake, Mighty Instant Glue Remover 7.5ml can unstick it right away!

Milcu Underarm and Foot Deodorant Powder, 3 Sample Sachets

Not gonna lie, I was skeptical when I saw the overly-positive product testimonials at the back of the flyer, but after using this, I am converted! This is honestly one of the best deos I’ve tried so far. No odor even after a couple of days and my pits stayed dry even after working out! Unbelievable! The powder tends to stick to my shirt if I put on a lot so make sure to brush away the extra before putting on your clothes. Definitely recommended! It is cheap too - the 80g container is only 88 PHP at Robinson's while the 40g bottle is only 50 PHP.

Selsun Blue Dandruff Treatment Shampoo, 2 6g Sachets

"Selsun Blue 2-in-1 Dandruff Treatment Shampoo is a shampoo and conditioner in one convenient
formulation for normal hair. The selenium sulfide content helps treat dandruff problems
while extra moisturizers leave hair soft, healthy and shiny."

I don't think I have dandruff but sometimes, my scalp itches. I'm happy to report that Selsun managed to remove the itchy feeling even after just one wash! If you are looking for an effective dandruff solution, make sure to check Selsun Blue! The 6g sachet is 34 PHP while the 120ml bottle is 335 PHP. The brand is available in Mercury Drug or Watson's nationwide.

Mentholatum Lip Ice Tinted Lip Balm in Baby Pink, 3.5g

This lip balm is heaven sent! Since my lips have dark edges, I’m looking for a lip balm that has SPF to prevent further darkening. This lip balm contains SPF 15 – enough to protect against the sun’s harmful UV rays. Keep watch for my full review! Lip Ice Tinted Lipbalm is available in Watson's for only 99Php.

Pearl & Butter Eyelash Serum, 5ml

"This gem isn't just your average castor oil formula. It includes special ingredients such as aloe vera
extract, jojoba oil, almond oil, vitamin E and essential oils helping your eyelashes
grow stronger, fuller and thicker. Works great for your eyebrows too!"

Got a sample of this in my previous box last month but I'm not complaining! Castor oil is great for enhancing hair growth plus Pearl & Butter made sure to add more beneficial ingredients to the mix! Their Eyelash Serum is available in 5ml, 10ml and 12ml tubes. Get them at Giltbox or through Pearl & Butter's official Instagram!

Artistry Hydra-V Nourishing Gel Cream, 10ml Sample

"Artistry™ Hydra-V Nourishing Gel Cream is a creamy yet sheer gel cream that provides
watery-fresh hydration after one use. It’s the year-round, long-lasting, all-skin-type,
go-to moisturizer for soft, healthy-looking skin."

Artistry Hydra-V products look promising! Will definitely tell you about my experience using them. The 75-ml full-sized tube costs 2,230 PHP at Amway.

Angel Skin Skin Lightening Bar, 100g

"Formulated with glutathione and gigawhite; helps lighten age spots, discoloration, and dark patches;
gently cleans to remove dirt, excess oil, and debris; leaves skin with an overall glow"

The last item in my first box is Angel Skin's Skin Lightening Bar with Glutathione and Gigawhite. I got very tan from always being out in the sun so now is the perfect time to test this. Will update soon about my results! The soap is priced at 140 PHP.

Mentholatum Sugar Lip by Water Colour, Rock’n Pink, 3g

Another lip balm! <3
This one is made with brown sugar for kissable soft lips!

Templos Moringa Peppermint Soap, 75g

Templos claims that their soaps are all-natural, handcrafted, environment friendly, palm-free, and vegan. The Moringa Peppermint soap I got doesn't actually smell like peppermint which is probably due to the fact that it doesn't have added fragrances. It is a bit grainy (probably from moringa bits) while still being gentle on the skin. Check out their Facebook & Instagram for more information! Their 150g bars usually sell for around 160PHP.

Haru Artisan Soaperie Okinawa Clay Based Gentle Cleanser & Mask Sample

This is a brightening, clarifying and exfoliating clay cleanser-slash-mask from Haru Artisan Soaperie. It has a citrus scent which I really appreciate. It also contains finely-ground almonds for exfoliation. After use, my skin felt soft, smooth and nicely moisturized! The full sized jar is only 295 PHP! I think this brand is worth checking out!

Easy Cures Goat’s Milk + VCO Gentle Hair & Body Wash Sample

A versatile, 3-in-1 Goat’s Milk+VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil) product made with Vitamin E and essential oils.
Try using it as your total all-over cleanser/shampoo/conditioner and body soap!

As a hair shampoo, I found it a bit harsh (it made my hair feel a little bit rough) but as a body wash, I found very gentle and moisturizing. If you're looking for something all-natural, you might want to check this out! Easy Cures claim this is is free from phthalates, sodium lauryl sulphate, ethyl sulfate, parabens, anolamine and petroleum jelly. The full-sized 250ml bottle is 340 PHP at EasyCure's website.

Maskuerade Activated Charcoal

The last item in my second box is Maskuerade's Activated Charcoal. Still can't find any info about the brand but I'm stoked to get this since I haven't tried DIY charcoal masks yet. This is to be mixed with water or ACV and rinsed off after 10-15 mins.

VERDICT

From instant glue to lip balms, my February loot seems all over the place but I love everything I got! My boxes contain essential items that I will certainly try and use. Aside from that, my first box has an estimate value of 800 PHP+ while the second one is around 400 PHP+. Super sulit!
