Saladbox x VMV Hypoallergenics Superskin Heroes Unboxing (May 2017 Saladbox)

Hey, guys! I'm back with another Saladbox unboxing. :D

For the month of May, Saladbox collaborated with VMV HypoAllergenics! This month's theme is Superskin Heroes and subscribers will get items that are "perfect for your skin, truly skin-savers!" I have only tried a few of VMV's products but what I've tried has impressed me so far. I'm a big fan of their Armada sunscreens. I trust the brand name so I'm looking forward to trying more VMV stuff!

According to the Saladbox Sneak Peek video, subscribers will be able to try TWO out of the following: (1) Essence Antibacterial Hand Gel, (2) Essence Hand And Body Smoother, (3) Essence Skin Saving Superwash, (4) Essence Skin Saving Milk Conditioner, (5) Hydra Balance Gentle Cream Cleanser, (6) Spring Fresh Oil Free Nourisher, and lastly (7) Hydra Balance Smart Moisturizer.

Aside from the above, subscribers will also receive another two surprise samples. Whatever you get, the value of the products is supposed to be above Php 1,000! I'm excited!

What's Inside The Box

the contents of my May 2017 Saladbox

The May Saladbox is their standard plain pink box, no customized design. It arrived on my doorstep on the first week of June but I have just very recently started using it. I will write a full review once I'm ready. Anyway, let's see what I got!

1. VMV Essence Skin-Saving Superwash, 50ml, Php 345.00

What: VMV Essence Skin-Saving Superwash Hair + Body Milk Shampoo (Mini), 50 ml,  Php 345.00

"rich, non-drying, bump-preventing, clarifying clean; with anti-oxidants;

helps prevent acne + irritations on face + body skin"

The first item in my box is this interesting shampoo. It smells like coconuts and you can use it on your hair + body!

As a shampoo, it's able to clean my hair and remove all oils. It is a bit stripping (my hair felt kinda squeaky after rinsing off) but nothing extreme like this organic shampoo. On the body, however, it's very rich, creamy and very moisturizing! It lathers a lot, removes that grimy feeling and washes off immediately too! Love it!

I've only tried this for a couple of days but I definitely prefer using this as a body wash. The bottle is only 50 ml though so it would probably last less than a week if used that way. Woe is me.

2. VMV Essence Skin-Saving Conditioner, 50ml, Php 345.00

What: VMV Essence Skin-Saving Conditioner (Mini), 50 ml, Php 345.00

"softening + hydrating; fortifying proteins + richly hydrating virgin

coconut oil; light, non-greasy; leaves no weighty residue"

Paired with the milk shampoo/body wash is this milk conditioner. It smells like coconuts too but the smell is stronger than the shampoo. The texture is thicker and richer than most conditioners. It's viscous and doesn't slide off my hands.

It's a kinda weird seeing a coconut oil conditioner touted as being light and non-greasy BUT it is totally true. The conditioner is very creamy, heavy and hydrating but it is somehow also super-duper ultra-omega lightweight and non-greasy! My hair seems like it's just absorbing everything in! Unlike other conditioners that leave a residue, this one won't. It washes off easily. Like I wrote earlier, the shampoo can be a bit stripping but this reverses all that! My hair is so soft and silky! <3

Like the shampoo, I have only tried this for a couple of days and so far, I'm LOVING IT!!! I just wish they opted for a container with a pump since it's hard to get the product out. The amount is tiny too - just 50 ml. I co-wash my hair everyday and I have to restrain myself from using a generous amount so that I can stretch my product use for at least a week. :/ Will post a full review once I finish my bottles. :D

The next two items in my box are 4g samples of VMV's Hydra Balance Cleanser and their Essence Smoother.

3. VMV Hydra Balance Gentle Cream Cleanser, 4g sample (approx Php 25)

"Gentle, moisture-balancing, facial cream cleanser with monolaurin, 

virgin coconut oil + antioxidants. For combination skin."

OMG, this is such a gentle yet effective cleanser! It is non-foaming, it doesn't lather up, but once you rinse the cream off, your face will be clean and bright! It doesn't make my face feel tight and dry. I don't like coconut-based products on my face since I usually break out from them, but so far, no problems! No clogged pores, closed comedones and whatnot. This is for people with combination skin but I think people with drier skin will also like this. This is a very moisturizing cleanser.

The full-size tube (120ml) is priced at Php 765.00.

4. VMV Essence Hand + Body Smoother, 4g sample, (approx Php 46)

"The smoothest move you'll ever make. This lotion's surprising lightness belies seriously s-"ooh"-thing, reparative moisturization. With coconut-derived fatty acids, glycerin, organic virgin coconut oil + antioxidants for unrivaled softening of even very parched skin."

The next item I got is this lotion sample. My sample pod was not properly sealed and was already open when I got it. Thankfully, no spills!

Since it was already open, I used it immediately. :p

This lotion smells like pure coconut oil. It's not surprising because coconut oil is second in the ingredients list. I'm not a fan of it, it's very strong.

I concentrated applying it on my ankles, elbows and other dry parts. They really meant business when it comes to moisturization because I have the smoothest baby-soft skin after!

Just one thing - the description says it's very light but nah, it's probably in the medium area. It is light, yes, but that is if you compare it to similar very moisturizing lotions. It dries and gets absorbed after about 10 minutes. It is not tacky but it feels slippery if mixed with water or sweat.

Is this Saladbox Worth It?

When it comes to the products I got, I am satisfied! These are all new items to me and VMV is a brand I really wanna try more. I wish they added one more sample because 4 is just too few and they are all minis. Parang bitin lang ng konti.

Price-wise is where it gets disappointing. The total value of the box is only 761 PHP, way below their promised Php 1000+ value. Uhhh, anyare?

Saladbox monthly subscription is 500 pesos and when I subscribed, they promised subscribers will get double or triple the amount they paid for. If you look back my past Saladbox reviews, their boxes are almost always nowhere near their predicted box value.

Final Verdict

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this box but for the reason stated above, I'm not satisfied with it too. Haha. I hope they continue releasing boxes like this but I wish they increase the value more! This is my 10th Saladbox out of a 12-month subscription so I'm hoping that the last two will be able to satisfy me and my high expectations (lol).

The June Saladbox appears to be a haircare box (Vitress and Kolours) based on Saladbox's Instagram teasers. I'm looking forward to it!
