Skin Genie Lip and Cheek Stain Alive Review (Tramp and Flirt)

SkinGenie Lip and Cheek Stain Alive Tramp Flirt

Hi, everyone. Today, I'm gonna share with you my experience using these popular Lip and Cheek Stains from Skin Genie! I have two of the newest shades added to their collection, Tramp and Flirt.

Lip and cheek stains are the easiest way to add color and life to your face while still looking very fresh and natural. I've always wanted to rock the "I woke up like this" look, but for some reason, lip stains never (as in, NEVER!!!) work on me. The colors would just slide off my lips!

These lip & cheek stains are highly-rated and are the best-selling products from Skin Genie so I'm really hoping this works. Read on to see if it solved my dilemma!

The stains are packaged in 10-ml glass rollerballs with plastic caps. New & unopened stains have thin plastic covering them.

Right Pic: Expiry Dates
Love that they included the expiry date. The sticker label has everyythiiing - the product description, how to use and the ingredients list. However, all those text crammed in a small piece of paper predictably made everything look pixelated. ðŸ˜¬ðŸ˜‚

August 2017 Update: Looks like Skin Genie redesigned their packaging. I prefer the white sticker instead of the transparent print. :/

The tube itself is very sturdy but I think the rollerballs are not secure. Don't know if this only happened to me, but my Tramp came with a gap between the tube and stopper like the pic below. Opened Flirt and same problem.

unfixed Tramp vs already fixed Flirt
It is fastened firmly enough so there's no danger of it spilling everything but it is still very leaky. You can't push it down using only your hands. I used a hammer to push the rollerball in place.

notice Tramp's rollerball vs Flirt's rollerball
If you received your own lip stain like this, you really need to fix it. Aside from the leaky gap, there would be a large space in the rollerball area. It would dispense a lot of liquid during application, potentially staining your clothes. See the difference in the pic above.

Color & Swatches

dry and wet swatches on paper
Tramp is a brownish red shade while Flirt is a baby pink shade. Both smell like melon and doesn't have a bitter taste.

The lip stains are described as gel-based but I wouldn't call it that. The consistency is watery and thin. The color is very sheer. Good thing you can build it up after it dries.

I think the key is finding a good shade that suits your skin tone. I have medium morena skin and Tramp looks very promising on me. Flirt, on the other hand, barely shows any color. My skin wouldn't accept it and it won't settle down.

Let see how it goes on the lips...

Performance

Flirt added an extremely faint flush of pink. It barely showed up. I expected it since the shade was too light for me and my lips are very pigmented. I think this would suit people with lighter skin tone better.

Tramp, on the other hand, was quite disappointing. It refused to stain the edges of my lips and settled only at the center. It looks unsightly. Such a shame because the color was really lovely.

The struggle! Hahaha.. Believe me, I really tried. I kept trying to color my upper lip
but as you can see, the tint would just slide off. My lips are waterproof lol
The stains didn't take long to dry (only 3-4 minutes) and the finish has no shine. It is not a moisturizing formula. It made my lips dry and emphasized the folds of my lips. Staying power? Well, the color on the center of my lips rubbed off after a short time (1-2 hours at most). This is also not transfer-proof. Some color transferred to a tissue paper when I blotted.

Both didn't work as a lip stain for me but as a blush, the two stains are great! The watery consistency makes it very easy to blend. It gives a wonderful, natural looking rosy bloom. There are more shades in their collection and they say Tan can be used as a contour.

Will I Repurchase?

Unfortunately, I have to say no. These are great to use as a blush but I bought these to primarily use as a lip tint. No matter how much I exfoliate, my lips won't absorb color evenly so I guess I'll just have to accept that.

If your lips are just like mine, then I suggest you skip this.

If you don't have the same problem as me or if you just want a natural-looking blush, then go ahead! The price is very affordable, only Php 80 each! Just make sure to get the shades that would flatter your skin tone. You can visit Skin Genie's physical stores or buy these online or through their own resellers.

Hope this helped and thank you for reading!
