Hi, guys! Here's my unboxing of the Giltbox goodies I got for the month of August 2017!

If you haven't heard of them yet, Saladbox is an online beauty subscription service here in the Philippines. Every month, you'll get a themed beauty box containing 4 or 5 product samples delivered right to your doorstep!

Just recently, Saladbox rebranded itself as Giltbox. As part of their transformation, the mechanics of their subscription service also changed. Instead of getting the same set of loot per month, subscribers will now receive a personalized box depending on their answers to a survey. Interesting!

Giltbox's rebranding coincided with the end of my one-year subscription and I'm not so sure if I'll resubscribe. (Ehem, late deliveries, ehem.) CLINIQUE EXCLUSIVE GILTBOX

Haven't tried Clinique products yet (except for their lippies) so I'm really happy and excited I snagged this box. Here's what's inside along with my first impressions.

1) Clinique Turnaround Revitalizing Serum (15ml sample, approx $20)

Product Description: "A high-powered serum that optimizes cell renewal to continually reveal fresher, healthier-looking skin. Helps bring vibrant new cells to the surface for a refined, uniform texture and renewed healthy glow. Skin looks energized, feels velvety smooth. Oil-free."

You guys. This is love at first application. Patch-tested it on my left cheek first and it immediately felt luxuriously soft. I got a couple pimples the very next day so I got concerned, but upon research, I learned that this has some lactobionic acid (PHA) and salicylic acid (BHA) in it. Purging is to be expected when you use acids so I continued using it. After a mere week, my left cheek is so soft and plump! It still a little bumpy from the purging but I can feel my skin improving.

Not sure about Philippine price but according to the Clinique website, the full-sized product (30 ml) is 44.50 USD. So pricey! I'll be sad once my sample runs out.

2) Clinique Turnaround Overnight Revitalizing Moisturizer (15ml sample, $13.89 at Amazon)

Product Description: "A revitalizing moisture cream that literally works overnight to reveal more luminous skin. Delivers the energy infusion skin needs to optimize nighttime renewal. Gently clears the dulling effects of time and sun damage, nourishes with moisture."

This is another hit for me. 💘 It really did a great job as a moisturizer and it made my skin a lot brighter the next day. The serum made my skin velvety smooth but this moisturizer boosted the hydration levels off the roof. I didn't know my skin could get any more bouncy?! I'm amazed. This has outperformed most moisturizers I've tried so far.

One and only downside: the full-sized 50-ml jar is 41.00 USD according to the Clinique website. It is 2,950 PHP at BeautyBar. Will repurchase but I'm just gonna put this in my wishlist for now. 😂

3) Clinique Lash Power Mascara Travel Size (2.5ml sample, approx $8)

Product Description: "Mascara with staying power. Vows to look pretty for 24 hours without a smudge
or smear. Lasts through rain, sweat, humidity, tears. Yet the formula removes easily with warm water.
Unique brush reaches and beautifully lengthens even the tiniest lashes. Ophthalmologist Tested."

Have only tried this twice and it's good. It gave my lashes a fuller-effect while also lengthening them. The best part for me is the really small and thin brush. It made the application a breeze. May do a full review about this. What do you think? Go ahead or not? 😉

4) Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer in Sweet Pop (travel-sized sample, $8.5 at Ulta)

Product Description: "Luxurious yet weightless formula merges bold, saturated colour with a smoothing primer. Glides on effortlessly to a modern-velvet finish. Colour stays true, keeps lips comfortably moisturized for 8 hours. Allergy Tested. 100% Fragrance Free."

I got the shade Sweet Pop which is a cool pink. The formula is moisturizing, glides on smoothly and has a satin finish. It's semi-transparent but it's still has enough coverage to cover the dark edges of my lips. I bet this will look perfect for a natural everyday look. No scent or taste too. 👍

Clinique claims this is long-lasting but since I habitually rub my lips together, the lipstick was no match for me. The color faded after a mere two hours. To its credit, the lipstick faded beautifully. It doesn't settle to the cracks on my lip and won't look patchy. The full size is 18.50 USD at the Clinique website. It's available at BeautyBar for 1,100 PHP. May purchase.

5) Clinique Pep-Start 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser (30ml sample, $12.00 at Clinique website)

Product Description: "By combining gentle cleansing with exfoliating power, this 2-in-1 formula takes away dirt, dulling dead skin cells, excess oil and impurities to give skin a smooth finish and a radiant glow. Preps skin for makeup. It is gentle enough to use twice a day."

The last product in the Clinique Giltbox is this exfoliating cleanser. I tested the pH level first and it's not bad at 6.4 pH. So far so good, right? However, I hate the smell and I hate the exfoliating beads. I think it's too harsh. It felt like I'm rubbing sandpaper on my face. The next day, I got breakouts all over. Bad. 💀 (Note: I tested each Clinique product separately so I'm sure this is the culprit.) If you wanna give this a go, the full-sized 120ml tube costs 1,300 PHP at the BeautyBar.

VERDICT: This is such an amazing box. Except for the cleanser, I like ALL of the items inside. Double thumbs up, Giltbox!!! Using US prices, the total value of this Clinique box is around 62 USD or about 3,100 PHP! Definitely a steal!

AUGUST PERSONALIZED GILTBOX

Can't remember what I answered on the Giltbox questionnaire but I remember choosing the options that will let me try as much as I can (except products for men). I'm open to trying new stuff and discovering new brands, local or not. Anyway, here's what I got.

Ta-dah! Let's break it down.

1) VMV HypoAllergenics Hydra Balance Gentle Cream Cleanser (30ml sample tube, Value: 515 PHP)

Product Description: "A smart hydrating clean: whisks away excess + helps control
acne and moisturize drier areas. Helps restore the skin's moisture barrier
and resilience. Soothes over-treated or irritated combination skin."

Love this! The Hydra Balance Cleanser can remove all dirt and impurities while being very gentle and moisturizing. I'm not really into cream cleansers but anything from VMV is an exception. They have never failed me so far when it comes to skincare and this product is the same.

Full price of the 120ml tube is 765 PHP. Giltbox lists the 30ml sample as 515 PHP but if I calculate the price by ml, the sample value should be below 200 PHP.

2) SugarxSalt Beauty and the Mist Rose Water (5ml sample, Value: 50 PHP)

Product Description: "This all-natural face mist rejuvenates and

hydrates the skin. Great for setting makeup."

A local brand that is new to me! Nice! From SugarxSalt's own About Me on facebook: "Handcrafted cosmetics and skincare products that minimizes the use of synthetic raw materials. A mix of natural and organic ingredients is used on each product while maintaining an affordable price."

Interesting. I've pretty much stalked their social media and from what I've seen, they currently only have a handful of products. The brand is fairly new in our local market too (pics from their timeline start early Jan 2017) but it looks like they're steadily growing.

Anyway, back to the product. The face mist is made with rosewater. It's hydrating and nice to spray if your skin is feeling thirsty throughout the day. For makeup use, can't say it made my makeup stay longer but I do like spraying this over matte foundations or whenever I apply too much setting powder. It reduces the cakey appearance plus it makes a smooth, dewy and natural-looking finish. May purchase this in full size. The 100ml bottle costs 180 PHP at SugarxSalt Shopee store.

3) Glamglow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment (5ml sample, Value: 380 Php)

Product Description: "This mud mask provides gentle resurfacing exfoliation and helps to

leave skin smoother, brighter, and softer resulting in immediate camera-ready glowing skin.

This is a repeat sample because I already got one through a previous Saladbox but I'm not complaining! I'm in love with this Glamglow mask! You can see results even after only just one use! The tingling may be too much for some people but it works for me. I especially love the deep exfoliation - even milia dry and fall off a few days after just one use. No kidding!

This is seriously on my wishlist for a long time now but the price is such a turn-off. The full-sized 50ml jar costs 3,300 PHP! 😱 Will you buy this?

4) Exceptionnel Cosmetics Blush and Kiss Potion in Possession (Full-Size, Value: 150 PHP)

Product Description: "A water-based and hypoallergenic lip and cheek stain that contains natural ingredients. Its very pigmented and easy to blend formula gives off a natural effect to your lips and cheeks."

Another new local brand to me! Yay! The lip and cheek tint is cutely called "Blush and Kiss Potion". I got the shade Possession.

I'd try more local lip tints but I haven't found one that actually works FOR ME. Most of the time, they'd just slide off my lips instead of actually sticking. Will definitely test this lip tint! Watch out for my review! From initial swatches, Possession is a brown shade. If you wanna know more about the brand and their other shades, visit their facebook page. :)

5) Remedy All Natural Soap in Eucalyptus and Green Tea (Full Size, 185 PHP)

Product Description: "Feel the soothing scent of green tea with a kick of eucalyptus. Handmade in the old-fashioned way, this labor-of-love soap is antibacterial and contains loads of antioxidants that rejuvenate dying skin cells, giving off a more moisturized skin."

Another local brand! Yay! The soap I got smells divine. Will use it as soon as possible. I can't find much info about Remedy except for their website & facebook. Looks like they're not new but the company is still fairly small. They make all their products by hand using food-grade ingredients. According to their fb page, they'll even customize scents for you. Neat!

VERDICT: Love this personalized box! It's a great mix of makeup and skincare. Aside from that, I got exposed to more local brands too! From my calculations, the full value of this set is around 965 PHP - definitely got my money's worth here!

Giltbox really went all out for their rebranding. This is definitely such a great start! I love the Clinique box and my personalized beauty box. WHAT: PIL'ATEN Collagen Nourishing Lip Mask
PRICE & WHERE: 10 PHP from a preferred and trusted Shopee seller

Hey, everyone! Gonna share with you my experience using Pil'aten's Collagen Nourishing Lip Mask. I see this always trending at Shopee and since it's very cheap, I thought I've got nothing to lose if I try this.

Haven't had any experience using the brand Pil'aten yet but after a lil googling, it looks like they're pretty well-established in China. Here's a timeline of their company history if you wanna know more about them.

The product claims it will maintain pink and tender lips, soften horniness (roughness), moisturize the lips and keep it springy.

How to Use:
1. Clean the lip skin with water by first.
2. Tear off the package, take out the lip mask to paste on lip.
3. After stay for 10-15 minutes, tear off the lip mask.
4. Use finger to gentle massage the lip to let essence absorb fully.

The Chinese website lists the price as￥3.20 or about 25 PHP. I got mine for cheaper. Only 10 PHP but it's from a preferred Shopee seller so I sincerely hope the product I got is authentic. 👀😅

My Experience

Inside the pack is a clear plastic tray which holds the transparent pink hydrogel mask. It has a firm jelly texture. There's a bit of fragrance on the pack but it fades once on the lips.

It's slippy and hard to apply. You need the help of the plastic tray to get it out. Anyway, it stuck to my lips after pressing it down for only a few seconds. It won't come off easily unless you move or open your mouth. The shape and size is huge and I'm sure this can cater to all people. Side note: have you actually seen a small hydrogel lip mask? 😂 Pretty sure all of them are exaggeratedly big.

The mask has no noticeable taste and has a cooling, tingly effect on the skin it touches. It's almost uncomfy (like it's stinging) but it's still tolerable. I removed the mask after about 30 minutes. Behold!

My lips don't look moist (like the very glossy "after" pics on product pictures) but my lips do look plumper! It feels soft too! This would be a good prep for the lips before putting on lipsticks.

Major Downside: The effects are short-lived. I mainly use this at night and after a couple of hours, I noticed my lips got dry and rough again. I guess, you get what you pay for. Probably should use this in the morning instead of night-time.

Verdict

I honestly prefer Pure Smile lip packs more since the effects are more long-lasting. However, if you're looking for a more affordable version, you should give the Pil'aten Lip Mask a try.

Hello, everyone. Lemme share with you one of my favorite lip tints so far - this is the Barbie Make Color Pop Tint from Milky Dress!

I generally prefer lipsticks because (1) my lips are very pigmented, (2) lip tints usually don't stick and stain my lips, (3) I find lip tints to be quite drying, and (4) they don't last long. This tint proved me wrong! Continue reading to learn more!

About the Product

The Barbie Make Color Pop Tints are described as tints with a lipstick-like high pigmentation. The formula is hydrating and non-drying and will instantly deliver a natural pop of color to your lips and cheeks in just one swipe! If you want, it can be layered to make the colors more vivid.

The tints are available in three shades: Delight Coral, Flower Pink and Scarlet Red. I got the shade Delight Coral inside Althea's Chok Chok box, which is now sold out. The lip tints are currently priced 520 PHP at Althea.

How to use:
Apply as a lip gradation or full lip, using the applicator. Can also apply as a blusher using your fingers to spread the color.

The product comes in a pink and white box sealed with a sticker. The box may look simple but the lip tint inside looks gorgeous! The rose gold rectangular 10ml tube is shiny and looks expensive. It just looks so fancy!

It has its downsides though. It has a screw-type lid but since it looks like bullet, interested people who want to inspect it would always try to pull it apart. 💀 The metallic surface is also a fingerprint magnet! You need to wipe/clean it regularly so that it wouldn't look grimy.

Now, Swatches!!!

Delight Coral is described as a peach coral with a hint of white to create a beautiful nude shade that brightens your complexion. The subtle color is supposed to light up your face.

I smudged the other sample so that you can see how it will look like as a blush.

According to the description, you can create a different look depending on the amount of layers and gradation. One swipe for a subtle moisturized lip, two swipes for a natural shiny looking lips and three swipes for a more vivid glossy look.

How I apply it: The slanted doe-foot applicator is okay but I prefer blending it with my fingers. Whenever I use the applicator, I always end up applying very thick layers. You also need to exfoliate your lips before using this. It emphasizes flakes if there are any. Lumps + gloss do not make a good combination.

As I said earlier, my lips are very pigmented especially at the edges. One coat of the lip tint is not enough to hide it but it did gave my lips a nice healthy looking color. The third coat was finally able to cover it. It made my lips look more youthful. This would be perfect for dewy looks.

Delight Coral looks like a bright orange on my tan skin but after it sets (about 5 minutes), it would develop this reddish undertone like the middle swatch above. It has a weird chemical scent but it's not noticeable once it settles down. The finish is glossy and shiny and it is very moisturizing. As you can see, my lips got plumper and there were less lines the more layers I apply.

Before blending with my fingers - I was taken aback by how bright it is during my first test.
The shade will change a little bit as it sets.

Despite the gloss, this is curiously long-lasting. After letting it set, I can drink and eat with no problem. It will transfer but the gloss will look like it's almost untouched. Of course, keep in mind that this is no match for overly greasy foods. In those cases, the gloss will still be there but the color will become uneven. It leaves a reddish stain behind once the shine completely rubs off.

One last thing, despite the serious shine, this won't trap your hair like those Juicy Tubes from the early 2000s. It feels a little bit tacky so I don't use it as a blush, but it's tolerable.

Verdict

I don't expect much from lip tints because of how they work on my lips but this one managed to exceed my expectations. For a glossy lip tint, the color is indeed vivid and it certainly lasts long. I recommend the Barbie Make Color Pop Tints especially to people who have the same problems as me. This would be perfect for natural dewy looks.

I think Delight Coral would suit people with fair to medium skin tones. The shade still works for me but I wanna to try the other shades too!

Before I start, lemme get this out of the way first. The packaging is low-quality. It's just a thin cardboard box that got smooshed on the way to my home. Despite that, I still had a lot of fun unboxing this!

The Talk Tox clay masks contains two steps each. The Step 1 pouch contains the clay while the Step 2 pouch contains sparkling powder. Just mix the 2 in the bowl and use the brush to spread it evenly on your face.

The Red clay pack contains red clay from Malazo Island in Amazon. It has soothing effects for sensitive skin. The Tourmaline clay pack contains tourmaline for "generating electricity on its own" and contains a variety of minerals to give nutrition and vitality to skin. The sparkling effect from the powder is supposed to remove wastes on skin.

My Experience

I was expecting the clay to stick to the plastic but it didn't. The clay flowed smoothly to the bowl with a schloop! No effort needed at all. See how clean the empty packet looks! Now about the clays - the tourmaline one is a light gray color you normally see in clay masks. The red clay doesn't really look like red. It's more of a gray tinged with pink.

Mixing the clay and powder is very easy. You just need to stir for a few times until all the powder is incorporated and that's it! It's ready to use! The resulting mixture is creamy and easy to spread. The amount inside is perfect for a single-use session. It is enough to coat my face in a thick and even clay layer.

Since the powder is called "sparkling", I first assumed it would feel like pop rocks popping on my face. However, it's more gentle than that. 😁 It's similar to a bubble mask. It's very entertaining. You can hear and feel the bubbles popping and it feels tingly in a good way. When I looked at the mirror a little later, I discovered I have transformed into a cloud. I accidentally popped some of the bubbles while waiting but don't worry, it would rise up again after a few minutes.

Anyway, I usually rinse it off after 10 minutes. After popping the bubbles, the deflated clay is sticky but still soft. It's easy to rinse off. Just wet the face, massage it a bit, then splash water again. If you go beyond 10 minutes, the mask will dry up and it will become harder to clean.

Results: My skin looks brighter and the texture feels smoother and softer. My pores are in very good condition too! They look very clean and smaller. Even the larger ones on my nose look tiny! I love the effects of both masks but if you're gonna ask me, I prefer the Red Clay Pack a little bit more. I noticed that it has an immediate effect on the tiny little pimples that I had. The next day, they were flat. I recommend these clay packs! 👍👍👍👍👍

Now, about the Manner Pack Sheet Masks

According to the product description, this is supposed to soothe red and sensitive skin. The three keywords in the front read "moist, calming, vital".

I don't have red sensitive skin but I find that this mask does help a little bit in soothing tiny pimple breakouts. It is cooling too, no need to refrigerate. I like pairing this with the Red Clay Pack for maximum calming powers.

The essence is moisturizing. After taking the mask off and patting it in, it felt quite sticky at first. I let it air dry (it took long, about 10-15 mins) and the stickiness faded, leaving behind soft and nicely moisturized skin.

You're supposed to use this sheet mask before putting on your makeup.

Except for the plant extracts, the ingredients are almost the same with the Traveling sheet mask. I'm worried this will feel sticky, but thankfully, it's not! After removing the mask, my skin felt soft and supple from being hydrated. I put on makeup immediately after using this and I find that base makeup applies more smoothly and evenly. No dry flakes anywhere too! 👍

The masks are made with cotton and are good quality. They're soft but won't tear apart easily. If you're wondering, the sheet masks contains 20 ml essence inside. After taking them out, there's still a lot left on the pack. They're not dripping wet but they're fully saturated. I was able to wear them for 30 minutes upwards without them drying up.

 Both masks have the same cut and shape. The eyeholes are different than the usual oblong cut and the nose part is a little too short on me but other than those, the fit is great.

Finally! We've reached the end of this post! 😂

Will I repurchase and recommend this? Yes! I have enjoyed using all the masks in this set. I especially like the Red Clay Pack but the other masks inside are good too. I think it's great value for the amount and the results you get!

Hey, guys! Wanna show you the stuff I got from my July Benefit Saladbox.

For July 2017, subscribers will receive a Benefit exclusive box. Included inside are samples of Benefit's newest launch - the Boi-ing concealers! I got my box a month late (it arrived Sept 2 for me) so I already have an inkling about what I'll get. Let's take a closer look at each of the items.

What's Inside

1. Watt's Up! Highlighter (2.5g fun size, $8 at Benefit website)

Product Description: "Our soft focus highlighter turns on “watt” ya got with a delicate champagne glow that’s gorgeous. The cream-to-powder finish is a switch-on “wow” for all complexions."

Super love that I got this! I really wanted to try this highlighter! The product is in a stick form, making it easy peasy to apply. The shimmers are super tiny. You can layer it multiple times to amp the shine or you can smudge it a little bit for a very healthy and natural-looking glow.

2. It's Potent! Eye Cream (3.0g deluxe sample, $4.9 at Benefit website)

Product Description: "Your eyes can't keep a secret...they're the first to show signs of age & stress. it's potent! eye cream ' fades dark circles & helps smooth fine lines for brighter, younger-looking eyes. Contains a peptide complex known to help restore elasticity & firmness, a blend of hydrating botanical extracts and loquat extract, known to help protect the skin from free radical damage."

Another fave in this box! I've been using this ever since I got it and I can say this eye cream is indeed potent! Haven't seen brightening effects yet from my two weeks of usage but fine lines under my eyes are slowly fading. It's very moisturizing but the cream is light and not heavy at all. It also comes in a very cute glass packaging. I always love how Benefit does their packaging. Even their samples look so pretty!

3. Boi-ing Airbrush Concealer (1.6g fun size, $8 at Benefit website)

Product Description: "Unevenness? Fine lines? Undereye circles? Forget filters…just apply boi-ing airbrush concealer. It’s your “real-life retouch!” This soft-focus, lightweight concealer covers imperfections all over the face with a flawless finish that’s virtually undetectable."

I'm excited to try this concealer since it's a new launch but sad to say, I wasn't able to try it yet. My sample looks like it was used already. I reported it to Saladbox and they said they'll send me another one ASAP. Still waiting for it.

(4) Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer and (5) Boi-ing Hydrating Concealer (0.05 single-use sample sachets)

The last items in my box are these single use sachets of the Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer and the Boi-ing Hydrating Concealer. Haven't tried them yet but I trust that they're good!

Is This Box Worth It?

If we use Benefit's pricing, the value of the box is around $20.90, double the 500 PHP I paid for! In terms of satisfaction, I love all the items inside except for the used concealer. I'm giving this box 4/5 stars! I'm knocking off a star because of the late arrival and the used sample but overall, this box is a hit for me!

One Year with Saladbox

As you can see, I have amassed a lot of items through Saladbox. Some boxes were hits, some were not that great but overall, I'm glad I was able to try and discover a lot of products and brands through their service. I also got double the money I invested. Can you believe all the stuff above is worth more than 14,000 pesos? It's more than twice the 6,000 pesos I paid for the one-year subscription! If you can be patient and don't mind the shipping delays, Saladbox/Giltbox is a good deal.

This July Benefit box is the last box out of my plan and I'm gonna be sad if I don't get my monthly "presents". Haha. Fortunately for me, Saladbox (now Giltbox) did a BOGO promo where you'll get two boxes per month if you subscribed to their annual plan. I availed of  the promo quick!

I already received the first two boxes of my new Giltbox subscription. Will post my unboxing the next few days. Watch out for it!
