WHAT: Rire Bubble Bubble Lip Mask
PRICE & WHERE: 350 PHP at Althea Korea

Most lip care products come in the form of sugar scrubs, sheet masks or lip balm/cream but Rire differentiates itself from the competition by introducing the Bubble Bubble Lip Mask - a special gel mask for the lips that foams up and removes dead skin cells by using bubbles instead of scrubbing.

According to Rire, the Bubble Bubble Lip Mask has three main selling points. First, rich bubbles remove dead skin to soften the lips. Second, this is a gommage peeling gel. No more scrubbing with microbeads! Third, this contains lemon extract and Vitamin C to moisturize the lips!

The item comes in a cheerful yellow box with all the info you need. There's the item description, usage instructions, ingredients list and manufacturer details in both Korean and English.

The lip mask itself

The mask is packaged in a 12 ml plastic pump bottle which is more or less the same size of a normal lipstick tube. I find it convenient and travel-friendly, although I think the design could be a lot better.

Water, Cellulose, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Butylene Glycol, Methyl Perflouoroisobutyl Ether, Glycerin, Acrylates Copolymer, Triethanolamine, Hydroxyacetophenone, Carbomer, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Panthenol, Allantoin, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Fruit Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate, CI 19140, Ascorbic Acid

Aside from citric acid, the product also contains orange peel oil and fruit extracts from lemon, grapefruit and lime. These ingredients help in gently exfoliating dead skin cells and lightening pigmentation. Hyaluronic acid is also present to prevent dryness and hydrate the lips. Here's the Cosdna analysis of the ingredients. Avoid using this if you are allergic or sensitive to any of the ingredients.

How to Use
(1) Take an appropriate amount and apply throughout your lips. (2) Wait 2~3 minutes until sufficient bubbles come up. (3) Once your lips bubble up, massage your lips gently. (4) Wipe off with tissue or water.

My Experience

The lip mask has a fresh lemon scent and looks like a normal gel at first. I recommend putting some on your pointing finger and applying it to the lips immediately because it bubbles up fairly quick.

I used two pumps to fully cover my lips. The sensation while it was forming bubbles was fun. Know that pins-and-needles feeling when your arm/leg sleeps? It kinda felt like that except the tingling is a lot more gentle and amusing. Regarding taste, better not move or you'll risk eating the bubbles! Lol. The product is definitely not for tasting since it's a bit bitter.

After 3 minutes, I popped the bubbles and used the resulting "scrub" to exfoliate my lips. After a minute or two of scrubbing, I wipe it off using a paper tissue. No residue is left behind but I prefer following it up with a little bit of water to remove the bitter taste.

Results

The product removed a lot of dead skin but from my experience, there's always a patch or two of dry areas left behind whenever I use it. I have to reapply a second time to fully remove all the dead skin. I can understand why because the formula is very gentle plus there are no exfoliating beads or sugar grains to rub in. Another thing to note is that my lips felt soft from the exfoliation but the product does not add moisture. You have to apply a separate lip balm to protect and hydrate your freshly exfoliated lips.

Verdict

Personally, I prefer lip scrubs that are more abrasive so I would not be repurchasing this once it's empty. However, if you're in search of a gentle lip mask, then this product is certainly worth a try! It's quite effective in removing dead skin, it smells good and it's easy and mess-free to use.

Hi, guys!

Whenever I do lip tint reviews, I always mention how my lips have dark, pigment edges. Because of that, a reader suggested I try this Thai product called "Sexy Collagen Pink Gel". 😆

I got mine from an online Shopee seller for only 130Php (see listings here). Here's my review after using it continuously for a month!

About the Product

Comes in a blister card packaging. Product info is written in Thai.
The card has Manufacturing and Expiry Dates written on it.

Sexy Collagen Pink Gel is a product that claims to improve the lips by making them soft, naturally pink and plump! The product exfoliates the lips to reveal a lighter tone plus it contains collagen for lip plumping.

Ingredients:
Aqua, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Allantoin, Propylene Glycol, DMDM Hydantoin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, CI 15850, Tocopherol, Niacinamide, Collagen, Alpha Arbutin

Directions: 
Apply a very small amount (approx the size of a sesame seed) to get soft lips with a natural pink color. To exfoliate and improve tone, it should be used daily for best results.

Notable ingredients include Allantoin for its soothing, healing and keratolytic properties, Aloe Vera for its moisturizing powers, Niacinamide and Arbutin for whitening and of course, Collagen for skin plumping. DMDM Hydantoin is a potential high-risk irritant while Tocopherol (Vitamin E) pose a lower risk. Here's the Cosdna Analysis of the ingredients. As always, don't use if you are allergic or sensitive to any of the ingredients!

The product.

The gel is housed in a clear and airless pump tube the size of a regular lipstick - very convenient if you wanna bring it along with you. It is made of plastic and seems sturdy enough. I dropped it a couple of times and it was still intact and looks undamaged.

My Experience

Unlike most gels, the consistency is thick and won't get watery once you start to spread it around. The gel is clear but will begin to develop a pinkish tinge after application. While not that heavy, it feels greasy on the lips like a lipbalm.

That lip-plumping action though! After 3-5 minutes, my lips noticeably has less fine lines. Combined with the pink tint, I can confidently say my lips look healthier!

The product has potential but it has its cons too. I noticed my lips would look paler as the night goes on. I chalk it up to the product's whitening abilities. Another thing I noticed is that the gel sits on top of the lips and will not absorb well. It transfers a lot and in the morning, my lips would look like this:

My lips would get very dry and I'm sure the gel is the cause since it happens every time I use it. If you want to get the plump-looking lips above, you have to continuously re-apply the gel.

The main reason why I got this is to lighten the dark edges of my lips. So did it work? See below.

One month apart.
Yes, I suck at taking before and afters 😂

The lighting has changed (sorry!) but I can definitely that say my lips have lightened a little bit. The dark edges have faded to a lighter brown in a span of one month.

VERDICT

The Sexy Collagen Pink Gel gets a pass from me. It really helped in fading the dark color of my lips. I will keep on using this to see more results.

Just keep in mind the cons I mentioned above. My lips look plump and healthy after application but the effects are temporary. I won't recommend using it as a lip gloss.

Hi, guys! I got an Exceptionnel Cosmetics Blush and Kiss Potion (Shade #4 Possession)  inside my Giltbox subscription last month. (You can read my August unboxing here.) I've already tried it out a few times since then. Here's my honest thoughts about the product!

WHAT: Exceptionnel Cosmetics Blush and Kiss Potion (Possession), 10 ml
Price: 150 PHP 

Product Description:
"A water-based and hypoallergenic lip and cheek stain that contains natural ingredients. Its very pigmented and easy to blend formula gives off a natural effect to your lips and cheeks.

#4 Possession is a chocolate brown hue that may be used three ways: on your lips, as your blush, and AS CONTOUR. The brown shade is a perfect "just went to the beach" blush for Morena Filipinas but works well with fairer skin tones as well. It leaves a pleasant choco-nutty flavor and smells DIVINE!"

Exceptionnel Cosmetics (a proud Philippine brand) claims that all their Blush and Kiss Potions lasts up to 12 hours and will past the wash test. Aside from that, they claim that they are organic and cruelty-free.

I can't find an ingredient list anywhere so we can't really verify the organic, natural, cruelty-free, and hypoallergenic labels. Use with caution and patch test first to avoid allergic reactions.

Anyway, the lip tint doesn't have a box but it's safely sealed with thermoplastic. It's a pretty typical 10-ml rollerball tube but I do like the black and gold color scheme they have going on. It looks pretty chic and sophisticated. Now, let's do some swatches!

How Possesion Looks Like

Possession is described as a chocolate brown suitable for morenas. From my paper swatch above, it does look close to the description. It smells so good - like chocolate! No bitter taste too like most lip tints! It's sweet.

Before I show you how it looks like on my lips, let me just put out a quick disclaimer: lip tints have never worked for me. I've tried a lot of tints (I reviewed a few here: 1, 2) but they would usually just slide off my lips and settle on the center. Aside from that, my lips have very dark edges and they're not compatible with sheer tints. If the description says "pigmented", I want to actually get that pigment.

So, did it work?

No such luck. The shade does suit my skin but as you can see, it settled on the center of my lips immediately. Note that I have moisturized and exfoliated before the swatches. It just isn't for me. 😂

To be fair, the formula feels moisturizing. It added a little bit of shine making my lips look healthier. It's not very pigmented but the shade is buildable. After 4-5 swipes, the dark edges of my lips are covered a little bit. You can apply a few more swipes to pack on the pigment. Since it only settles on the center of my lips, it doesn't look good no matter how many swipes I layer on. If your lips are similar to mine, better try another tint, girl!

As a blush/contour, I needed at least two layers for it to show up on my skin. It adds a sheer and natural-looking pop of color on my cheeks.

About its longevity, I tried doing the wash test myself. I placed my hand swatch under running water for about a minute. Results? It looks like it's waterproof. It didn't budge at all. However, even if it's waterproof, it didn't last as long on my face like the 12-hour claim. Four hours in, the blush on my cheeks has faded and I have to reapply. The tint on my lips have disappeared even earlier.

Verdict

If your lips are like mine, I don't recommend this because the formula will only settle on the center of the lips. As a blush, it's okay but it doesn't last very long. If you don't have mutant lips like me and don't mind re-applying, then this product is not too bad. I think it's good for barely-there everyday makeup look. I'll continue using this as a blusher but will not repurchase.

WHAT: PIL'ATEN Collagen Nourishing Lip Mask
PRICE & WHERE: 10 PHP from a preferred and trusted Shopee seller

Hey, everyone! Gonna share with you my experience using Pil'aten's Collagen Nourishing Lip Mask. I see this always trending at Shopee and since it's very cheap, I thought I've got nothing to lose if I try this.

Haven't had any experience using the brand Pil'aten yet but after a lil googling, it looks like they're pretty well-established in China. Here's a timeline of their company history if you wanna know more about them.

The product claims it will maintain pink and tender lips, soften horniness (roughness), moisturize the lips and keep it springy.

How to Use:
1. Clean the lip skin with water by first.
2. Tear off the package, take out the lip mask to paste on lip.
3. After stay for 10-15 minutes, tear off the lip mask.
4. Use finger to gentle massage the lip to let essence absorb fully.

The Chinese website lists the price as￥3.20 or about 25 PHP. I got mine for cheaper. Only 10 PHP but it's from a preferred Shopee seller so I sincerely hope the product I got is authentic. 👀😅

My Experience

Inside the pack is a clear plastic tray which holds the transparent pink hydrogel mask. It has a firm jelly texture. There's a bit of fragrance on the pack but it fades once on the lips.

It's slippy and hard to apply. You need the help of the plastic tray to get it out. Anyway, it stuck to my lips after pressing it down for only a few seconds. It won't come off easily unless you move or open your mouth. The shape and size is huge and I'm sure this can cater to all people. Side note: have you actually seen a small hydrogel lip mask? 😂 Pretty sure all of them are exaggeratedly big.

The mask has no noticeable taste and has a cooling, tingly effect on the skin it touches. It's almost uncomfy (like it's stinging) but it's still tolerable. I removed the mask after about 30 minutes. Behold!

My lips don't look moist (like the very glossy "after" pics on product pictures) but my lips do look plumper! It feels soft too! This would be a good prep for the lips before putting on lipsticks.

Major Downside: The effects are short-lived. I mainly use this at night and after a couple of hours, I noticed my lips got dry and rough again. I guess, you get what you pay for. Probably should use this in the morning instead of night-time.

Verdict

I honestly prefer Pure Smile lip packs more since the effects are more long-lasting. However, if you're looking for a more affordable version, you should give the Pil'aten Lip Mask a try.

Hello, everyone. Lemme share with you one of my favorite lip tints so far - this is the Barbie Make Color Pop Tint from Milky Dress!

I generally prefer lipsticks because (1) my lips are very pigmented, (2) lip tints usually don't stick and stain my lips, (3) I find lip tints to be quite drying, and (4) they don't last long. This tint proved me wrong! Continue reading to learn more!

About the Product

The Barbie Make Color Pop Tints are described as tints with a lipstick-like high pigmentation. The formula is hydrating and non-drying and will instantly deliver a natural pop of color to your lips and cheeks in just one swipe! If you want, it can be layered to make the colors more vivid.

The tints are available in three shades: Delight Coral, Flower Pink and Scarlet Red. I got the shade Delight Coral inside Althea's Chok Chok box, which is now sold out. The lip tints are currently priced 520 PHP at Althea.

Delight Coral Ingredients:

How to use:
Apply as a lip gradation or full lip, using the applicator. Can also apply as a blusher using your fingers to spread the color.

The product comes in a pink and white box sealed with a sticker. The box may look simple but the lip tint inside looks gorgeous! The rose gold rectangular 10ml tube is shiny and looks expensive. It just looks so fancy!

It has its downsides though. It has a screw-type lid but since it looks like bullet, interested people who want to inspect it would always try to pull it apart. 💀 The metallic surface is also a fingerprint magnet! You need to wipe/clean it regularly so that it wouldn't look grimy.

Now, Swatches!!!

Delight Coral is described as a peach coral with a hint of white to create a beautiful nude shade that brightens your complexion. The subtle color is supposed to light up your face.

According to the description, you can create a different look depending on the amount of layers and gradation. One swipe for a subtle moisturized lip, two swipes for a natural shiny looking lips and three swipes for a more vivid glossy look.

How I apply it: The slanted doe-foot applicator is okay but I prefer blending it with my fingers. Whenever I use the applicator, I always end up applying very thick layers. You also need to exfoliate your lips before using this. It emphasizes flakes if there are any. Lumps + gloss do not make a good combination.

As I said earlier, my lips are very pigmented especially at the edges. One coat of the lip tint is not enough to hide it but it did gave my lips a nice healthy looking color. The third coat was finally able to cover it. It made my lips look more youthful. This would be perfect for dewy looks.

Delight Coral looks like a bright orange on my tan skin but after it sets (about 5 minutes), it would develop this reddish undertone like the middle swatch above. It has a weird chemical scent but it's not noticeable once it settles down. The finish is glossy and shiny and it is very moisturizing. As you can see, my lips got plumper and there were less lines the more layers I apply.

The shade will change a little bit as it sets.

Despite the gloss, this is curiously long-lasting. After letting it set, I can drink and eat with no problem. It will transfer but the gloss will look like it's almost untouched. Of course, keep in mind that this is no match for overly greasy foods. In those cases, the gloss will still be there but the color will become uneven. It leaves a reddish stain behind once the shine completely rubs off.

One last thing, despite the serious shine, this won't trap your hair like those Juicy Tubes from the early 2000s. It feels a little bit tacky so I don't use it as a blush, but it's tolerable.

Verdict

I don't expect much from lip tints because of how they work on my lips but this one managed to exceed my expectations. For a glossy lip tint, the color is indeed vivid and it certainly lasts long. I recommend the Barbie Make Color Pop Tints especially to people who have the same problems as me. This would be perfect for natural dewy looks.

I think Delight Coral would suit people with fair to medium skin tones. The shade still works for me but I wanna to try the other shades too!

Hi! In today's post, I'm gonna share with you my experience using White Virgin Lip Gel from the Korean brand Milky Dress. Note: This product has been discontinued. I'm gonna share my experience anyway. T_T

The product is described as a whitening lip gel for improving pigmentation. According to the product page, it contains ingredients that nourish and effectively lighten dull and dark lips. It is supposed to permeate the lips with moisture while being completely non-sticky.

There is a tip at the bottom of the product description saying this lip gel is ONLY for those who want to have natural pink lips and who wants to care for dull and dark lips. For years, I've been looking for an effective lip bleach to lighten my pigmented lips. So... totally me? Hahaha! I have very dark, uneven lips, so I really want this thing to actually work!

Packaging and How It Looked Like

Description at the front: "It is absorbed without any stickiness as light & soft gel type,
keeps moisturized and brightens dull lips with niacinamide & botanical extracts."
Price and where I got it: Php 210 at Althea Korea

The packaging is very minimalist in design. It's very simple, just white with a pop of turquoise green. My pics doesn't capture it but the "White Virgin Lip Gel", in both box and product, is a shiny metallic silver.

The top part has the product name and a sticker seal. The bottom part has no writings.

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Xylitol, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Potassium Hydroxide, Butylene Glycol, PPG-26-Buteth-26, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Xantham Gum, Disodium EDTA, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Fragrance, Milk Protein Extract, Tremelia Fuciformis (Mushroom) Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Pancratium Maritimum Extract

Niacinamide, well-known for its lightening and moisturizing benefits, is 4th in the list. That's pretty high up. There are lots of humectants and botanical extracts in the list as well. The ingredients look okay to me but make sure to do your own research and check for your own irritants.

The lip gel comes in a plastic 10-ml tube with a nozzle to dispense the product. It's quite easy to get the product out - just squeeze the tube until you get the desired amount. I think the packaging is hygienic since only the product you dispense will get exposed. Just make sure you have clean fingers before using this.

The only thing I don't like about the packaging is... it's full of air! The packaging is thick and well-made but I wish it was made a bit more compact in size. I have to squeeze and squeeze before the lip gel comes out. If I squeeze too much, there is risk of spilling a lot! So, be careful!

Swatch and Application

Here is a swatch on my wrist.

I applied a little blob on my wrist. It's consistency is gel-like. It becomes light and watery once you spread it. It dries and gets absorbed completely in about 3-5 minutes, depending on how much you rub it in.

Fragrance is listed as an ingredient but this doesn't have any scent in it. Weird. Regarding taste, you wouldn't want to lick this. It tastes very bitter.

My Experience & Product Results

(3) After spreading it all over my lips (4) How my lips looks like 5 minutes after

As you can see, I have very dark lip edges. My upper lips are especially pigmented. After putting on the lip gel, my lips instantly look brighter and plumper . After about 5 minutes, the gel was fully absorbed. Unlike lip balms, this product didn't leave a shiny film all over my lips. However, my lips felt really hydrated, soft and moisturized from within. Notice that my lips are fuller in Pic 4 compared to Pic 1 where my lips look dehydrated and sad.

So, moisturization powers... check! But does this product effectively lighten pigmentation? I specifically bought this for that purpose...

Well, I used this at least once a day, more if I can remember to apply. After around two months, here are the results.

Sorry about the lighting lol. My lips are still dark particularly at the edges, but they did lighten up considerably. You need to keep on using this if you want to see more results.

Will I Repurchase Again?

Yes! I dislike the bitter taste but this product is an easy & convenient way of lightening dark lips. It's an effective moisturizer too. Love it! I have tried natural homemade remedies for dark lips (like lemon juice and cucumber juice) but frankly, I don't have time on that.

I would totally recommend this to everyone who suffers from dark, pigmented lips excEPT I JUST LEARNED THIS PRODUCT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED!!! So sad. If you know similar products, let me know and I will try it!

I mentioned on my previous review that lip tints never (and I mean literally NEVER) work on me.  This time, I'm gonna review the Lip and Cheek Stains from Rraw PH! Will these do their job? Read on to find out!

How to Use:

Lips: Apply desired amount onto lips, allow to dry for 30-60 seconds and you're good to go!

Cheeks: Apply desired amount onto cheeks, allow to dry for 20-40 seconds and you're good to go!

Key Earthly Ingredients: Beetroot, H2O

I like the brand because they're organic and made locally. Everything is made from fresh, wild ingredients and are all crafted by hand! Beetroot is a main ingredient and if you have cooked/sliced/juiced beetroot before, you'll know they stain like crazy! I'm curious how Rraw made it work for them.

Packaging

Rraw PH recently changed the designs of most of their products. I bought this early January so my tints still have the old look. The old packaging is a clear 10-ml tube with a doe foot applicator. The cap has a sticker label with the product name and shade.

The new lip stain packaging look like the screencap below, The tints are now in a shorter 10-ml bottle with a brush applicator.

Aug 2017 Update: Looks like they reverted back to the lipfoot applicator!

Don't have a problem with the packaging but I just wish they put a more comprehensive ingredient list, either on the product or on their website. There's no mention what else this is made of aside from beetroot and water. Anyway, moving on...

Swatches

Rraw PH currently has 5 shades available. I got the original three: Scallop, Vitrinella and Crasatella.

Scallop is described as a wine burgundy shade. It smells like strawberries.  On the paper swatch, it really looks wine-colored. On me, however, it looks more brown.

Vitrinella is described as a deep red shade. It smells like cherries. From the swatches, you can see it has orange undertones

Crassatella is described as a bright red shade. It smells like bubblegum. This stayed true to description. This shade is red.

Note: shades may look different depending on your skin tone and undertones.

First of all, I think these stains are very promising. The color quickly clung to my skin after only just one swipe. The stains are sheer but the pigment is definitely there.

The texture varies among the shades. Crasatella has the thinnest, most flowy consistency among the three. Vitrinella is in the middle, while Scallop has the thickest, almost gel-ish consistency.

Before I show you swatches on my lips, lemme just tell you again that lip tints just NEVER work on me. No matter how much I exfoliate, my upper lip and the edges of my bottom lip won't absorb color. The tints just slide off.

Now, let's proceed...

Crasatella

The color is lovely. In real life, it's a just-bitten red that looks very natural on the lips. Plus points too because instead of sliding off, the tint actually tried to adhere to my upper lip. Too bad my lips rejected it.

Vitrinella

This almost looks like Crasatella but if you build it up, you'll notice it has more orange in it. This shade was more successful in staining my lips. The lip tint still won't stick to my lips properly but it definitely left pigment behind.

Scallop

Oh, boy! Scallop successfully stained every surface of my lips! (!!!!!) I expected it to flub and settle only on the center of my lips since it's the darkest color, but it didn't. Needless to say, this is my favorite out of the three.

One swipe looks very natural but you can certainly build it up if you want to pack on the color. The tints won't dry matte. After settling down (about 3-5 mins), a super thin layer of oil will remain on top. I guess it's for moisturization. It's very lightweight, not uncomfortable or heavy at all. I actually just noticed it when I was rubbing my lips together. You can blot it off using a tissue.



In terms of staying power, it lasted through drinks but not through meals. I also noticed this is not transfer-proof. If you don't blot it off, it will transfer slightly but the stain will remain. My maximum wearing time is 3 hours.

As A Cheek Stain

Scallop is the most pigmented as a lip stain, but when I used it as a cheek stain, it was the sheerest among the three. It still added a pop of color to my cheeks. Vitrinella & Crasatella look great as a blush. Vitrinella will brighten up your face a lot while Crasatella will make you look blooming. All three look very natural. You can also build up the color.

Will I Repurchase?

Yes, especially Scallop! If your lips are just like mine, these are worth trying out. The shades are sheer and doesn't last that long but it's perfect for short errands and for general everyday use. The price is very affordable too, only Php 99 each!
