You guys, foot masks are a thing? I was just browsing nail polish colors at Watson's when I chanced upon this item. "Perfectly peel away calluses and dead skin cells in just 2 weeks"? That sounds too good to be true. I do treat myself with foot spas every now and then, but I don't really give my feet enough attention aside from basic cleaning. I got very thick calluses in my feet so I was instantly intrigued and decided I must try it myself!

Product Description
Purederm Botanical Choice Exfoliating Foot Mask is a foot exfoliant plus treatment filled in a pair of wearable mask sheets. Put on the mask as you would your socks. It removes all calluses over time, visibly smoothing your feet within 2 weeks. Papaya, Lemon, Apple, Orange and other natural botanical extracts remove calluses while Chamomile Extract calms freshly exfoliated skin.
How to Use
(1) Using scissors cut open the package along the dotted line. (2) Thoroughly cleanse your feet and wear the masks. (3) Remove after 60 to 90 minutes and rinse off with water. (4) Calluses start peeling off in 4 to 7 days after use. Nearly all calluses will be removed in a further 3 to 5 days depending on their thickness. Do not use a callus remover or pick on calluses when they start peeling off.
What's Inside
After snipping the product, you can see two clear plastic socks folded up nicely inside. It has little green feet printed all over. Quite cute!
The socks holds 20ml of the magic solution. The plastic seems flimsy but it is actually sturdy. Before opening the product, I accidentally stepped on it. It felt like something got squished. I was afraid the socks burst and that the liquid leaked inside. However, all is good when I opened it. No spills anywhere!
Putting it on
looks like lotus feet |
I got pretty small feet but the problem is they are pretty wide. Because of that, I had a bit of trouble putting on the first sock. You can't see it in the pic above but there's a good 3 inches extra material at the back of my heels. It didn't affect anything though. According to the package, this foot mask can be worn by people with foot size under 270 mm.
The liquid inside is enough to coat every surface of my soles and toes. It feels wet but it doesn't feel sloshy. I think it's possible to walk around the house in these but you have to secure it first with either tape or some rubber bands.

Waiting Game
The instructions recommended to soak the feet 60-90 minutes so I sat down and did some stuff. Sometimes when I move my feet, I would get a whiff of its scent. It smells so much like acetone. I don't mind it but if you have a sensitive nose, this is a point to consider.
It's probably because of my thick feet, but I didn't feel anything unpleasant. It just felt like I'm soaking my feet in cool water. I can sense a little tingling here and there but it didn't sting at all. After 60 minutes, I rinsed it off. My feet looked the same but somehow they felt squeaky? I don't know how to describe it but it felt like if I rubbed my feet together they would squeak.
Peeling Process
After the treatment, my feet looked the same. I'm not surprised. After a couple of days, I felt like they are drying up and getting thicker. I still feel that squeaky feel and sometimes, the tingling sensation but no peeling action happened at all. I was getting discouraged but at the end of the fourth day, some parts started peeling off. Yay! My sister was skeptical this product would work but when she saw the slightest hint of peeling, she immediately bought one for herself. lmao4th day - feet just started peeling |
7th day - more peeling, all this removed in 14 days |
Performance
The product removed my calluses but the whole process took a lot longer than I expected. All the peeling stopped at the end of the second week, which is still within the timeframe advertised so I can't really complain.Just an observation - my feet is thick but there are two areas in my feet where the skin is noticeably much thicker than the rest. This foot mask made the dead skin peel off in layers like onion skin so the calluses in the area I mentioned were reduced but it still remained. You may have to do a second treatment to completely remove all dead skin cells and that is actually what I'm doing right now. That's why I cant show you pics yet! I don't know if it is too soon to do a second treatment but I just can't wait, hahaha! Remind me to update this post in another two weeks!
(November 2 edit) Update: The second treatment I did above did not do much peeling. It removed dead skin but the layer that peeled off was thin. I guess that makes sense since I did the second treatment just a week after the first treatment. Skin cells renew after 28 days so I waited another month before doing another treatment. My feet is actually soft by this point but there were a few problem spots with calluses (e.g. the area that gets in contact with the fasteners of slippers). The 3rd treatment removed more dead skin than my 2nd treatment so I think I am correct in saying you should put more distance between your feet peeling sessions. The problem areas I wanted gone are reduced but it is still there. Guess I have to target those areas separately by using sandpaper or something.
Price & Availability
This is my first time doing a foot mask so I'm not sure about the average prices. I looked around online for prices of other brands and I found out sock-type peeling foot masks are usually priced at around Php 200-600. At only Php 189.75 per package, I can definitely say this brand is one of cheaper options out there. I bought this at a Watson's store which has outlets almost everywhere so you can easily buy this product! No need to pay shipping fee! Very sulit! Some Tips
Time your treatment accordingly. If you're gonna use this, know that you can't use slippers, sandals or any open shoes for two weeks. So if you're going to the beach or have a special event that requires open footwear, you might want to delay doing this. It's okay to cut off any dangling calluses but do not peel skin that isn't ready to come off yet. When in the bath, even if the calluses feel soft and ready to rub off, don't do it! If you do, you'll end with lots of patches. In the pics above (7th day), I rubbed the calluses in my upper right foot using my hands. I think that delayed the peeling process. If you let it be, your feet will shed the calluses in one layer like snakeskin.
Lastly, wear socks! It was weird walking barefoot around the house with peeling feet. It felt like I was walking on a sheet of paper that is ready to tear off. With socks or any kind of foot cover, I can walk around with no fear of leaving my dead skin behind and there is no risk of having my peeling soles snag in a random thing.
Ingredients
I was quite curious what makes the dead skin separate so cleanly so I did some research. This product is full of alpha-hydroxy acids (lactic acid, glycolic acid and all those fruit acids) and apparently, these acids reduce cell adhesion (in plain speak, it means it separates the old skin from the new skin) after some time. That's neat! AHAs are also generally safe as long as it's in the recommended dosage. Nice to know!
Conclusion
Will I recommend this? Hell yeah! Price-wise, it is cheaper than most of the competition and performance-wise, I have no complaints. The waiting time is the biggest con for me since I am quite impatient but the results are seriously worth it. I’m really glad I "discovered" this product. Just be patient and that baby feet will be yours!Have you tried this product yet? What's your experience like? Share it below! I look forward to hearing about your experiences!
