Hiddencos Latte Sheet Mask Review
What: Hiddencos Latte Sheet Mask
Price & Where: 120PHP at Althea PH
I'm a sucker for pretty packaging. Just look at this product. Isn't it cute? As a coffee lover, that latte cup design really pulled me in. It called me! This is the Latte Mask from Hiddencos and it contains premium Arabica coffee extracts.

Read on to see if putting coffee juice on your face is worth it. ðŸ˜‚

About the Product

Hiddencos Latte Sheet Mask Review
Front and back of the mask (click to see full size!)
The info on the back is written all in Korean except for the ingredients list.
The product description at Althea claims that coffee is good for maintaining beautiful skin - caffeine is supposed to improve wrinkles, scars and recover skin elasticity. Aside from coffee extract, other notable ingredients include niacinamide for skin brightening, adenosine for skin firming and patented phyto-oligo ingredients to fill the skin with moisture.

How to Use:
1. Cleanse your skin before using the mask.
2. Apply the mask evenly across your face.
3. Remove the mask after 20-30 minutes.
4. After removing the mask, lightly tap the remaining essence on your face.

Here is the full ingredients list. (Cosdna analysis)
Don't use the mask if you are allergic or sensitive to any of the them!
I was greeted by the scent of latte as soon as I opened the pack. It smelled amazing - like a real latte! It's not very sharp like plain coffee - it is sweet and milky with a hint of vanilla. I love it. I have to fight the urge to taste it. Yes. Don't judge me, haha.
Hiddencos Latte Sheet Mask Review
A look inside the pack
The pack contains 25g of essence. The texture is thick and not runny - kinda like a watered-down gel. The sheet mask inside is made of a thin, beige cotton material. It was very saturated but because of the consistency of the essence, it's not very drippy. There's still plenty of drops left on the pack. It's not enough to soak a dry, compressed mask so I just applied it back to the mask.

My Experience

The mask has this subtle, cooling effect. It's soothing. The overall fit is good. The eyes, nose and mouth holes were cut large and there are two slits in the chin area for adjustment. I wish they added more so that we can further adjust the shape but the slits are enough. There's only a couple of things I didn't like. The eyebrow part keep puffing up no matter how many times I smooth it down. The philtrum part is a bit long too. It covered half of my upper lip.
Hi.
That said, the cling is great!  It adhered to my face well (except the weird eyebrow part) and only started getting loose after 40 minutes. I removed the sheet mask shortly.

The essence took a while to get fully absorbed - I patted and rubbed it in for around 5 minutes before it finally dried out. It left a layer of oil. I checked the ingredients and there's canola oil, olive oil and macadamia seed oil in there. It's not very heavy but if you are acne-prone, you may want to tread carefully.
Oil layer on my fingers

Results

The mask is brightening and moisturizing. My face looked radiant and dewy immediately after and my skin felt so soft. It's a little bit tacky from the oil layer, but in the morning, the stickiness was gone. As for it's skin-firming claims, my skin looks plump from hydration but that's it. I don't think it reduced wrinkles. Note: I have combi skin. This mask didn't break me out.

Final Say:

This mask is  bit pricier than the masks I usually buy, but overall, I enjoyed using this. May RP. Coffee lovers, you need to try this at least once!

Orange Peeling Lotion Review
What: Orange Peeling Lotion
Price & Where: 50 PHP from a Shopee seller
Hi, everyone. I have "farmer's tan" on my arms and face (kinda like Joe Jonas here) for as long as I can remember. I have experimented with lots of whitening soaps & lotions and while some of them did lighten my skin a little bit, my permatan looks like it's there to stay. I think I need something stronger. Enter this Orange Peeling Lotion.

I found this on Shopee. It claims that it will help rejuvenate the skin in less than a week by peeling dead and old skin to reveal whiter and smoother skin! Aside from that, it will whiten new scars, stretch marks, dark spots plus it claims that it's totally safe!

Too good to be true? Haha. Read more to learn how it performed. ;p

About the Product

I'll say this right from the start: this product is kinda sketchy. 😂 I can't find much info about the brand, the ingredients or the manufacturer (and reviews I can trust are really few) but this product still seems popular on Shopee anyway. I'm high-key hesitating but in the spirit of trying new stuff, I decided to buy a couple of bottles.

I've seen different kinds of orange peeling lotion but the one I got comes in a clear and quite flimsy 100ml plastic bottle with a flip cap. There is a sticker label on the front and an expiry date stamped at the bottom, but aside from that, no other information is included.
Orange Peeling Lotion Review
the lotion is orange and has this tiny little bubbles spread all over
Did some googling and apparently, orange peeling lotions work similar to green peeling oils except it is in lotion form. Peeling oils contain AHAs/BHAs to increase the rate of skin renewal so this lotion should also contain some. The actual ingredients are not disclosed so use this at your own risk! Patch test first before using!

How To Use:
1) Apply the lotion on clean skin before bedtime.
            - Use the lotion generously & massage until it's totally absorbed.
            - Let dry and apply another layer after 15 minutes.
            - Let dry and apply another layer after 15 minutes.
            - Repeat until you have achieved 3 layers.
            - Go to sleep.
2) Repeat the step 1 the next night and the next night - total of 3 consecutive nights.
3) Skin will start peeling after 5-7 days.

Notes (tips from seller):
- You may take a bath but DO NOT SCRUB on the area where you applied the peeling lotion
- If redness or irritation occurs during peeling period, use hydrocortisone cream to relieve itching.
- DO NOT FORCE THE SKIN TO PEEL OFF, wait until your skin has loosened up from the new skin before peeling it off.
- Avoid too much exposure to sunlight during application, peeling stage and 1 week after peeling.
- Use high SPF lotions during daytime after peeling.
- 1 bottle is enough for both arms, 2 bottles for both legs and 4 bottles for the whole body.

My Experience

The product has a slightly fishy smell which confirms that this contains some AHA/BHA. The texture is on the watery side but despite how light it feels, it takes a while to absorb. I have to continuously massage it in for a few minutes. After it got absorbed, it did not feel sticky.
Orange Peeling Lotion Review
The texture of the lotion. It dries matte once fully absorbed.
I saw pictures of people peeling their skin off like a sheet of paper (like this), so naturally, I also want to try that. 😂 To get the best results, the seller recommended not showering during the application and after the application until your skin peels.

I tried to follow it. I didn't shower/bath during the 3 days of application. The lotion got absorbed completely on the first day but after 3 days of piling on layer after layer, my skin formed what I call a "dried up crusty" layer.
Orange Peeling Lotion Review
A part of my arm after 3 days of thick lotion layers, no showering.
Those are not dead skin cells btw. That's the lotion pilling up.
I applied the lotion thickly to use up 1 bottle for both arms as instructed and let me tell you - by the third day, my skin was so saturated that it won't absorb any more lotion. The lotion dried but if you apply another layer, it would pill up and form these nasty dead-skin looking little balls. You shouldn't confuse this with actual peeling skin.
Orange Peeling Lotion Review
How could people finish one bottle for both arms in just 3 days? I couldn't.
I felt so grimy after 3 days so I caved in and showered like a normal person. I don't recommend not showering. It's not worth it. I won't do it again. 😂 Take note, you are actually free to shower. Just don't scrub the part where you applied lotion.

Peeling Process

My skin started peeling on the 4th day after my application. Before it started, my skin got drier, tighter and looked so wrinkly. I also noticed that I got 1-2 shades darker.
Orange Peeling Lotion Review
The peeling started with my hands...
Orange Peeling Lotion Review
...followed by the thinner areas. (4th day after application, outside)
That's not dried lotion!
No stinging but my skin felt very itchy, especially the crook of my elbows. I can't resist scratching and the result is red, irritated skin. Don't scratch!
Orange Peeling Lotion Review
So itchy! I tried my best not to scratch it. (bathroom light)
The peeling process went on for a total of 8 days for me. There are tiny dry patches left during the last few days so I just scrubbed it off with a loofah.

Results?

It's actually effective in peeling skin. However, I'm here for lightening and I don't think it did anything in that area.
Orange Peeling Lotion Review
The new skin looked lighter (6th day, indoor light)
If you see the pic above, you might think the product actually lightened my skin. However, remember this made my skin darker before it peeled off! The new skin looks the same shade before I used this lotion. No changes. My arms still look uneven like this.

Will I Recommend?

Personally, I won't use this again. It did not lighten my skin like it claimed it would plus it's very time consuming. It is also a hassle since I have to hide peeling skin by wearing long-sleeved shirts.
Another great con is the mystery ingredients and manufacturer.

Results vary per person so if you still wanna try this, I won't stop you. I experienced no bad effects except for the temporary darkening and itchiness. It's affordable and won't hurt your purse.

what the back packaging looks like
Lemme just say I dig the packaging. The mask design is clean and minimal but the bright color scheme grabs your attention. The instructions on the back is all written in Korean. Thankfully, it has helpful illustrations to guide you along the way.

Trying Out The Mask

the U-zone essence
I first opened the U-zone moisturizing mask. It has 17g of ampoule inside, enough to drench the mask plus it has lots of extra left. It's not enough for a compressed sheet mask so I applied it back to the sheet. The scent is interesting - I won't say it's fragrant but it smells very earthy, kinda like freshly cut plant stems. It's probably because of all the plant extracts inside.
the T-zone essence
The T-zone mask contains 7ml of ampoule. Again, it's more than enough to drench the mask and there's lots of extra inside. The smell is amazing - it smells very strongly of citrus and it's appealing to me. I think it's the combination of Litsea Cubeba (apparently smells lemon-like) and Mandarin Orange creating the lovely aroma. I can still smell it while on my face but it doesn't bother me.
Mino-Hodong pose while trying the mask.
Comment below if you know what I'm talking about haha
Fit & material:

The U-mask is a traditional cotton fiber mask and it is a very pale yellow color. It clings nicely and fits me well but the mouth hole is too small for me while the philtrum area is a bit long (it's almost up my nostrils!). As you can see, there are lots of creases around the mouth. There are three short slits on the lower part (below the chin and near the ears) but it's not enough to adjust it perfectly.

The T-mask is very thin and has a green sheet mask backing. I almost didn't realize it was there at first! I had trouble separating it from the backing, but once free, it almost perfectly conformed to the shape of my forehead and nose. I say almost because the nose part is too long for me. Whenever I inhale, it blocks my breathing.
The green sheet backing. You can see a glimpse of the actual mask at the edges.
According to Gram, the T-mask is an "air dry sheet" and it's made of very thin fibers finely woven together. You're supposed to let the T-mask dry completely. After that, you tear it off like a nose strip.

Wore it while laying down doing nothing. #BestPartofUsingAMask

After 20 minutes, the U-mask has already started falling off. I removed it and patted the extra in. The finish is dewy and feels a little bit tacky. Now, about the results. The U-mask is very hydrating like it claimed. My cheeks were so plump from hydration that my pores look almost non-existent! Love it!

The T-zone mask is a different story. It's basically a nose strip for the whole forehead and nose area, right? At the time, I haven't read that info yet. The material honestly felt like wax paper to me so I mixed some moisturizing essence with it. Around the 20-minute mark, it started tightening instead of falling off like the U-mask. At this point, I read the product description to see if I'm doing something wrong.
I adjusted the eyebrow part since I don't wanna rip my eyebrows.
I learned I have to let it dry completely. I waited and waited, but the T-zone won't dry since I mixed it with some moisturizing essence earlier. After an hour, the mask was still not completely dry. After another 30 minutes, I finally got impatient and took it off. It didn't remove any impurities plus it's very sticky and left bits of the mask behind. I used the still damp U-mask to wipe off the tacky adhesive leftovers. I'm sad it didn't work but I'm not mad since I used it the wrong way.

Research is key. Read before buying. ðŸ˜‚

Verdict

I like the banban concept and the fact that it addresses issues of both the T-zone and the U-zone. There is a learning curve when using this so read instructions first! I can't say much about the T-mask but I love the results of the moisturizing mask. Overall, I'll repurchase and try this again. It's a fun two-part mask that is very affordable and won't hurt your budget even if you mess it up like me, haha. ðŸ˜Š

SNP The Sound of Your Heart Choseok Brightening Mask Review
What: SNP The Sound of Your Heart Choseok Brightening Mask, 25 ml / 1 sheet
Price & Where: Php 149 at Watson's
Hey, guys! Today's review is about SNP's Choseok Brightening Mask from their 'The Sound of Your Heart' Collection.

SNP launched various products based on the webtoon TV series and it includes 4 sheet masks based on the characters. I have already reviewed 2 out of the 4 masks - (read here and here if you are interested).

About the Product

The blurb on the back says this mask will make dull and chapped skin look brighter.

Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Juice, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Water, Morus Alba Bark Extract, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Broussonetia Kazinoki Root Extract, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit Extract, Betaine, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Polysorbate 80, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Disodium EDTA, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol, Ethyl Hexanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

Niacinamide and Morus Alba (white mulberry) stood out to me since I know they're popular and effective brightening ingredients. The other plant extracts (pomegranate, broussonetia, cranberry) looks like they are there to help brighten the skin too.

According to this Cosdna analysis, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, and Butylene Glycol are potential acne triggers and irritants. Don't use if you are allergic or sensitive to them or to any of the ingredients.

How to Use:
After cleansing your face, tone skin and apply the mask to the face evenly centering around the eyes and mouth. Leave on for 10-20 minutes, and peel the mask from face. Pat gently any remaining essence to skin.

My Experience

SNP The Sound of Your Heart Choseok Brightening Mask Review
this dude is called Choseok and he is the main character of The Sound of Your Heart
I opened the pack and was greeted by a strong citrusy and minty smell. So far, this is my favorite scent from the line. I really dig the fragrance! It is very energizing and made me happy!  For those with sensitive noses, don't worry because the scent is not as strong once on the face. I can still catch a whiff of it whenever I move but the scent is not as noticeable.

The material is the same as the rest of SNP Sound of Your Heart masks. It is thick but still soft and not scratchy. There's 25 ml of essence inside and the mask was really dripping wet. It has a slight cooling sensation which I like.
How the mask looks like when worn. I'm squinting to see the design better lol
The fit was great (the mask was almost perfectly flat except for the crease on the mouth area) but looks like the 2d design doesn't do well on my face. The pic above is me trying to figure out what happened to the design, haha.

The crease on the mouth area was the first thing that loosened up. I spooned the extra essence back to the mask so that it will last even longer. I wore it on my face for about 45 minutes before it started falling off. The essence dried a little bit sticky but it was still tolerable.

Results?

SNP The Sound of Your Heart Choseok Brightening Mask Review
the mask laid flat
True to its claim, this brightened my face a lot! I'm very satisfied in that aspect. However, since this is pricier than the usual masks I use, I kept looking for other benefits. Moisture is just okay but other than that, I don't see other notable effects.

This would be good for people with normal skin just wanting a quick pick me up or for those who just want to insert fun in their routine. I imagine this would be great for mask parties with friends.

Tried this mask? What do you think?

Skin Genie Golden Unicorn Peel-Off Mask Review
What: Skin Genie Golden Unicorn Peel-Off Mask
Price and Where: 350 Php at Skin Genie
Hi, today I'll be dishing the deets about Skin Genie's Golden Unicorn Peel-Off Mask. This mask got my attention when it was first launched late last year. I mean, who doesn't wanna look like a golden unicorn? Haha, but seriously, this genuinely got me curious. I don't think I've seen a local brand doing peel off masks - let alone a golden one - so I'm really excited to try this.

Read on to learn more about the product!

About The Golden Unicorn Mask

Skin Genie Golden Unicorn Peel-Off Mask Review
how it looks like from the front and back
The product has five claims written on the front namely: (1) Brightening, (2) Antiwrinkle, (3) Lightening spots, (4) Pulling out dead skin cells, and (5) Unclogging pores.

Ingredients:
Pure Water, Glycerin, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Extract, Sophora Angustifolia Root Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Liquorice) Extract, Hippophae rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Extract, Magic Golden Silver Mineral, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance Oil

Water acts as a solvent, Glycerin is for moisture, Polyvinyl Alcohol is the film-forming ingredient (the thing you peel off) and I assume the 5 plant extracts are there to help us achieve the claims mentioned above. Phenoxyethanol is a preservative and "Magic Golden Silver Mineral" is obviously the gold/silver thingy that will make us look like a unicorn.

This product is available in two sizes: the 50-ml tube is sold for 350 pesos while the larger 100-ml tube retails for 450 pesos. I was lucky to score mine through Skin Genie's limited Holiday Box

First Impressions

Skin Genie Golden Unicorn Peel-Off Mask Review
The product came like this. The tube was sealed with plastic.
I got this early January but I have to curb my enthusiasm to open it because I have a lot of half-empty tubes of mask products lying around. I just started using this recently and this sat in my storage for more than 6 months - probably the reason why when I first tried it, the mask looks like this:
Skin Genie Golden Unicorn Peel-Off Mask Review
the mask is clear instead of the expected gold
Skin Genie Golden Unicorn Peel-Off Mask Review
against a light source
I held it up against a light source and it looks like the gold/silver shimmers settled to the bottom. The mask is thick so shaking it like a maracas won't be able to blend the mask. I have to insert a clean, unused barbecue stick inside the tube to mix it up. If your Golden Unicorn mask is clear, you probably need to stir it too.
Skin Genie Golden Unicorn Peel-Off Mask Review
"gold" mask vs clear, unshaken mask
After mixing, the mask got way more shimmery and opaque. It doesn't really look golden, it looks more pearlescent silver to me.

So, now about my experience...

Skin Genie Golden Unicorn Peel-Off Mask Review
selfie time - no golden unicorns here lol
I've tried this 4 times and one thing is for sure - secure all your hair! This stuff high-key smells like glue and it is very sticky... like glue! Keep it away from your hairline and eyebrows. If some of your hair got stuck in the mask, untangle it immediately or else, prepare to say goodbye, haha.

The mask is easy to spread and drying time is within 10-15 minutes; it depends on the thickness you applied. I recommend applying it thickly and evenly so it will be easier to remove after it dries.
Skin Genie Golden Unicorn Peel-Off Mask Review
my first time using this mask
The mask dries without feeling tight. I wrinkled my forehead, scrunched my nose, and did stuff like that to test its durability and it formed crinkles on the already dry mask. As much as possible, I recommend not moving too much because the crinkles left an imprint on my face. Oops.

Pain level? This is one of the most painful masks I've tried. During the first time I tried this, I peeled it off carefully and slowly starting from the edges. It hurt a lot and the pain was too much for me to handle. It feels like I'm ripping off my face.
Skin Genie Golden Unicorn Peel-Off Mask Review
Low-cost Santa Claus cosplay.
Just kidding. I have to take a break from peeling it off, lol.
Not exaggerating here. I have to take a break and take deep breaths before I could continue (see pic above haha). I removed the tiny little bits left by using a damp towel.

I tried the mask again after a few days and, after it dried, I just ripped it off without thinking. That proved to be so much better! The pain was not as severe compared my previous experience. So, lesson learned: for a less painful experience, rip it off fast in just one go!

Was the pain worth it?

Remember the claims? Can't say much about its anti-wrinkle and spot lightening properties (I feel like those problems need more time) but I think it did good in fulfilling most of its promises.

My skin looks matte and brighter while my pores do look smaller! I think it needs more moisture but my skin feels very smooth nonetheless. I have some flaky patches on my cheeks and this mask managed to remove those dead skin cells. It's a double-edged sword because it also ripped off a scab from a healing pimple. Be warned!

I've seen some people say this is good for pulling off blackheads and whiteheads. I can't vouch for it since closed comedones/bumps are more my problem. My "unicorn shedding" looks fairly clean and I don't see plugs on the peeled mask.

Is this product worth it?

I have used this mask exactly 4 times and more than half the tube is already gone. I estimate there's about 3-4 uses left. That's about 7-8 uses per tube and if you calculate it based on the 50-ml price, it will be 43-50 pesos per use. That's a bit pricey for me.

Final Thoughts

I don't think I've seen a local brand do peel-off masks so kudos to Skin Genie for tackling this area. That said, they still need to improve a lot. I'm just gonna leave a summary of its pros and cons here and let you decide.

Pros:
1) The mask looks cool (even if it's not gold like its name)
2) Dries fast.
3) Peels off easily.
3) Actually delivered most its claims (brighter, smoother skin; clean, smaller pores).

Cons:
1) Unstable formula - the shimmers would settle to the bottom after a while.
2) Chemical scent - it smells like glue.
3) You have to use a lot, or else, it will be difficult to remove.
4) Painful - not for those who have sensitive skin
5) Expensive - the 50-ml tube is good enough for only 7-8 uses.

Have you tried this? What are your thoughts and how's your experience? Let me know!

What: Calmia Silky Essential Foot Pack, 20 ml

It's awfully easy to forget caring for our feet. I keep my feet tidy and I sometimes do foot peels but aside from that, I don't really do anything more. Obviously, that won't do because our feet need tender, loving care too!

I came across this product on Althea when I was looking for hand & foot care items. This foot pack is supposed to make our feet soft and moist while also relieving odor. Peeling is also one of the features so I'm sold!

4. Wear it like socks.
5. Take it off after 15-20 minutes and massage your feet.

My Experience

I opened the packet to take out the plastic socks. It has a very thin fabric layer inside. I'm expecting the socks to have a liquid solution inside but the foot pack is actually a cream. It has this fresh powder scent.

The packet contains 20 ml so each sock should have 10 ml inside. While it was enough to coat my feet in a thin cream layer, I think 10 ml is too little. The sock is barely drenched and the fabric absorbed most of the cream.

the sock is kinda dry
I slipped my feet inside the socks and I immediately felt this nice cooling sensation. It went away after a couple of minutes. I can still walk around while wearing this - the socks were not slippy.

Recommended time is 15-20 minutes but I took a nap and wore this for two hours. When I woke up, I took them off and massaged my feet as instructed.

Results?

My feet felt very soft at first but after after a couple of hours, they felt rough again. This is more like a hand cream but for the feet - you have to reapply after every 2-3 hours to get that softness again. As for the peeling - I waited a week before publishing this review and sad to say, there is no peeling action at all.

I'm disappointed with this one so I won't recommend this. This is essentially a foot lotion and it's expensive for a one-time use product. If you want to peel calluses, I suggest getting a foot peeling pack instead.

Tried this? Tell me I'm not the only one disappointed, hehe! How's your experience?
